Super excited to start my 12/12 cycle tmrw but dont know when the actual countdown starts for flowering. I have a 60 day strain . So is it 60 days from the time switch or 60 from the time they start to bud?

To be honest, it doesn't matter if it's an 8 week recommended flower or 11 week recommended flower, go by the trichs to determine when to harvest.

Totally spot on, breeders say 8 weeks on average but phenotypes can vary. Get your hands on a 60x jewelers loupe (5 dollars on amazon) to check trichomes and youll be able to harvest at the perfect time. I harvest when its mostly cloudy but with a little amber.

First get the idea that they will finish in 60 days right out of your head. Chances are it will take longer; breeder flowering times are notoriously inaccurate. Not only that peak potency is subjective; its at the preference of the grower.
That being said after you flip the lights check the nodal areas daily for wispy white pistils to emerge. It will take approx 6-10 days for the transition to occur but on the day you see early flowers forming mark your calendar with a star or something. THIS is day one. Most hybrids or indica doms will finish in 9 weeks or so...that is 63 days. If you count 9 or 10 weeks out from day one that's a good estimate of when you might be harvesting or at least give you an idea of when your harvest window will be open. You still need to check the color of the trichome heads to determine maturity.

Recently haven't been able to but before when I only had one tent I used to leave my plants on a week and half of 13 on 11 off and that starts the preflower then start my 12/12 and that's the only time I nearly matched the breeders quote lol.
It's how you grow if you manage to piss em off at the beginning or first few weeks into flowering then you chances of doing what it says on the pack is low. Read you plants and see what it will need and what I don't from veg.. Keep the stress minimal and the plant will keep you happy. Hope this helps
