I'm posting this thread for some helpful advice on what lights would be the best for my veg box it's 23" wide and the cab is 13" high. Was thinking about using the smaller florescent lights maybe 3 along the top.

If not fluoros, then LED for sure
That's a pretty tight spot, though. When you figure 4-5" for the pot, it doesn't leave a helluva lot of room, eh?
Right no room at all I'm thinking about cutting out the bottom drawers and dropping the bottom which will give me a extra 6" I would love to do LEDs but I'm strapped for cash

Update : I don't plan on moving them into pots until I flower I have some 3" plastic cups

What's the best led light to get for the size of the cab.
Oh, I'm hesitant to suggest anything there. I am biased towards cheap 10W LEDs. However, I have seen many good quality fluoro grows, too (never mind the high-end CREE LED grows). It comes down to what your level of technological comfort is. I have little difficulty whipping together systems from practical garbage, so I'm probably not the best person to give a general answer to such questions.
Who knows? Maybe the ideal for you would be a mix? Maybe vertical fluoros with LEDs on top? :-?

if your going to use CFL's, I would not be concerned about watts in a small veg cab, more so, I would be concerned about heat, meaning I would put as many CFL's as it takes to get your temps in range and call it good, heat is going to be your limiting factor in that small space

I have an LED from an aerogarden that's 30 watts and works great for veg. It would work very well for your application, I have no idea where you'd get one though.

you can get pretty close to those smaller 3 watt diode led panels,, you can still find them on Ebay I think, some of the smaller UFO's may work, with that said,, you can get really close to CFL's in a small space,, those UFO's need what,, at least 6 inches, maybe more?
