Ocean forest beginning to end...opinions.

Hey eveyone

So i am just finishing a whole grow using nothing but happy frog for the 1 gallon veg from clone. Once i got them about 16 inches under a 24 in T5 I potted them in to 5 gallons using straight FFOF. The whole 8 weeks of flower i used straight ph tap water and all the way to the end my ladies stayed green and lush. Only at the 7 week point of 12/12 did i see the yellowing of the typical finishing. At that point i just used a little Bud XL by house and garden.

Anyone do this witout nutes like i did? I want to develop a soil base that is water only from beginning to end. Any advice you all could give would be great.

I was thinking i might mix happy frog and OF 1 to 1 and add some dolomite lime. Then maybe add some different meals to it.

Anyone have a small batch recipe theyd like to share? I want to get away from nutes and stay organic for the whole grow. Im over the whole nitrient lines. Ive spent way too much money on full lines and never see the results im looking for.

I run a 4 by 4 by 8 room with a 600w hps. Temps and humidity are good and i never have bug or mildew issues. I usually use 3 or 5 gallon pots. I think its time to try out smart pots. I never get more than 1.5 oz per plant. Usually 4 to 6 oz per grow in 3 gallon pots. I know its not the best but my buds are always potent and taste good. So i know im doing ok. Pot size is what kills me. Plus i never veg mor than 5 weeks from beans. 4 from clone.

Any advice is appreciated...thanks

Ocean Forest is really good stuff. I like to add 4 or 5 gallons of perlite to get better drainage. I have learned to check out the stock at the store for fungus gnats before I buy.
Your going to like the smart pots! Only drawback might be more frequent watering needed.

I really like ocean forest too. But I've brought home bugs more than once from it as well.

You got pics of these plants? That's a fast strain if its 8 weeks .. The fastest I've come across are 10 weeks from the flip.

I use FFOF and I like to see how long they can go with no food.. I've never come close to being able to flower with nothing added. Usually I'm hitting them with jacks classic by week one of flower but they are big plants in 5 gallon pots.

I see how your soil only method works; because you switch to flower the day you transplant. That works good, but your kind of wasting resources... I would recommend making a batch of super soil , and you could top dress with that the day you flower instead of transplanting. That might be beneficial because the root zone wouldn't be expanding during the flowering cycle

Lately it's been advanced nutrients or heavy 16. Fox Farm added to their line and I have kinda wanted to do a grow with ocean forest and their entire line-up.
Right now, I'm using the heavy 16 on my recycled dirt and I'm using the advanced nutrients with pro-mix.

Top dress over the ocean forest with super soil? Id try it. Only thing is...you have to make a ton of dirt at one time. I dont have to room to mix all of that up and keep it stored until i use it.

Anyone sell a super soil mix yet? Im shocked you cant buy it from the hyro shops.

supply n demand as more ppl demand more FFOF quality goes down the drain there are not any store soils you can buy that will veg n flower a complete cycle just no way they make soils for a wide range of plant species but i guess if you veg one week and flip it might work ??? water only again probably not veg a plant 5 weeks and an you will have def if you water only
I think the best thing a person could do is mix FFOF with other amendments like manures sea compost , worm compost and make it little stronger and hope it will not effect early veg in any way good luck

Very nice flowers. IMO OF is not a beginning to end option(4-5 weeks of food max), and Bud XL is not a nutrient supplement, it's a natural plant hormone and amino acid product that if anything it's increasing your plants food requirements. If your goal was to put on size, Shooting Powder would have been their option, but it's not organic.

I would had a healthy amount of castings to your soil mix, as well as maybe look into adding in some insect frass, and extra amounts of bone, fish, fish bone, and crab meals(like 1/2 cup each per bag after adding castings). Adding some biochar and humic powder could also help stretch out the fertility of your soil.

In saying that though it is probably more economical to just make your own mix from scratch. There.are a million recipes in the organics section of rollitup to copy.

Dont do it! They sent me boxes of the new stuff to try when it came out. Did a side by side with Heavy 16 and Heavy murdered it in terms of quality. The bushdoctor products brought down the quality of strains that had done well on the classic 6 products.
