I can feel ya on the electric, I have been raising desert reptiles in cold part of the country for a long time, that's the only reason my wife was ok with me growing, she figured what's another 1200w of hot ass lamps! The power company already knows we use a ton of juice and they only came by to check once 6years ago

Looks nice, great trunks! Did you top that one early in veg(before 4th node), or just bury up to the split? It kinda does look like a mainline, just without the traditional 90° knuckles. Sorry for all the questions, just smoked and got my new beans in the mail! I'm all giddy and shit!

You're good bro. Yea I top early and I also did employ a mainline style just with out the 90. I started cutting out the lateral shoots but not taking the leaf and let the tops shoot up. Similar to pinching out the suckers on tomatoes. IMHO it resulted in explosive growth in veg.
 
Cool, I've never tried to mainline, I just top and do some lst, but after reading up on it I went out and got some armor si to start adding, I have a holy grail 69 from ss thats begging to have it done, she Y'd right up in 2 days after her first pinch but she still a little scrawny in base area, hope in to have her lookin half as good as yours do:peace:

I mix my own organic soil and I add greensand for silica. takes a long time to break down though

Im trying to stay away from all bottled ferts.
 
Ive been slowly moving towards doing a 100% organic grow with no bottled nutes but living in an area where getting access to good stuff ingredients for soil is kind of tough. I make my own compost and haven't quite gotten to raising my own worms since I just don't have the space and temperatures for anything more than a small amount of worm casting production. Are you moving away from bottled nutes because you want to do it 100% natural or is it another reason?
 
Gary are you doing no-till? If not you check into it. There is a giant thread floating around RIU about it. Basically most of the stuff we put into organic soil takes a long time to break down and by doing no till it allows the good stuff to easily available to the plant absorb, also the mycos are undisturbed so the bene's can properly coloniate, if my brother wasn't so hard headed I'd be running no till raised beds here in colorado. And that is my plan for the next house..

Yea, the plan is to end up doing no till. Right now all of the pots have roots organic soil. I'm waiting for each harvest to amend all my soil before I start no till.

I also have another question if you don't mind. I see the serrated edges of some of your leaves are pointing up, just like mine. They are not curling, but just pointing up. I did some research but couldn't find any definite cause for this symptom. It's funny sometimes because one day they're pointing up, but four hours later they're fine without having any change in environmental conditions. I've noticed that this happens more often in bloom. Any idea? :confused:

Pointing up isnt a bad sign as long as you're not seeing heat stress. Pointing up just means they are transpiring. I just watered last night and this morning they are pointing up. That tells me they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Most times I dont go by counting nodes or any of that. I just top when they are young and then start mainlining when the new shoots are big enough to bend. I'll use bambo or chopsticks in the dirt and then twist ties to hold the shoots down.

I'm pretty much doing scrog with out the net myself. I like that I can turn and inspect the plant by not using a screen. Plus if you have multiple plants in a scrog net and one gets disease or mold you're kinda fucked.

yea its not for everyone, or strain for that matter. if i had my druthers id take cuts in veg, but then id overgrow my veg tent. some strains just take too damn long to root from a 3 week flower cuttting, or take too long reveg. on the plus side, i dont have to top so i just sc the branches into place without any lst'ing.

it is pretty nice to move them around if need be. thats the same reason i got away from screening them. not only that, its kinda a pita to harvest. :leaf:

anyway i like your style. hope my subscription to this thread sticks this time.

Nothing really, they just came to make sure I didn't have a bunch of daisy chained bs everywhere, around here if you are willing to pay for your juice without gov. Assistance they leave you alone mostely

Back to this thread though, Gum lookin good too! Gave my grail her first bend and haircut last night, can't wait till lights on to see how she liked it!

Good looking setup, GaryG! Keeping it simple, attention paid to the right details.

I keep wishing there was a way to directly apply mainlining to a vertical grow. I'm adapting things as best I can, but the bubblegum in your first pic looks fantastic.

OO Seeds Bubblegum? Can you tell us some of its characteristics? Mine (I was told mine is from ISS) grows big, fast, fluffy and retains the bubblegum smell through cure.
