i found a company they make pretty nice pads even for citizen cobs....pads have exact the same size like the cobs... from edge to edge... they make even the 2 holes for the screws
datasheet looks pretty good
only problem is they sell only business to business... you have to order minimum for 250 euro they told me on phone
Maybe @CobKits or @robincnn are interested in that pads: KU-aLF5 - Thermal resistance (inch2)°C/W:0,009

I'm sure I was looking on there the other day, if I'm right they are listed on the citizen website or data sheet as one of the suppliers in Germany for heat distribution solutions.
Did you ask about prices other than minimum order?
I see you can order samples of 3.

like i allready told minimum order is 250euro.
i asked for pads for clu058, if i remeber correct the price for one pad is around 0,40-0,50euro. so for 250 euro you would get a lot of this pads, around 500-600 lol

I have used pads for quite a while. not the 1st, but a while.....human error on paste fuggering was the reason I switched. Don't mind not looking back. I always advocated the thinnest line possible like @robincnn with his paste stencil. But since I don't have one or too lazy to make one...;).......

There are some spray on applications for whoever suggested that....at least for metal types, so in theory it will work, in practice, who the fug knows... @salmonetin might have a treasure trove of info buried somewhere???? :peace:

@robincnn, any data? i'd like to possibly build one for my veg. replace my two blurples.
That lamp i build would give almost same performance as Photon 180 V lamp powered with Vero 29's. Both lamps are 180-190 watts, same COB only difference is COB separation and optics. Use calculator here
How big is your veg space.


I like the artic silver TIM. The Template application method makes it easy. I don't want to get the TIM over silicone optics so i recently decided to try the GrafTech thermal pads.

...maybe... but im shared a lot here... i always say that pad way its a lot more expensive... but good pads are ok to my pov... ...thermal grease are the recomended election...normally...

The Wetting (Contact between the LED Engine and the LED Cooler) is lifespan for these High Power Leds,
so we suggest you to Measure besides the Tc Point also a place on the LED Cooler near the Contact Area

- when a Temperature Difference is observed than 10°C between these 2 Points there is a Potential Contact Issue.

MechaTronix recommends the use of a High Thermal Conductive Interface between the LED Module and the LED Cooler.

Either Thermal Grease, a Thermal Pad or a Phase Change Thermal Pad Thickness 0.1 - 0.15 mm is Recommended.

Thermal Pads or Phase Change Thermal Pads can be preapplied from MechaTronix.

It is a 3x3 atm. I may be downsizing to a 2x2. Thinking of using my veg as another flower tent and buying a 2x2. Currently,I veg under approx 215 watts of blurple leds. 2 100 watters from california lightworks.

For my 2x2 veg tent in use HLG-120H-C1400 with 2x citizen CLU 048 on 120mm heatsinks. I run them at 700-1050mA . 1050 is about 100 watts and good enough for veg. Pics page 16 of this thread

Robincnn will you list the specs on the citizen cobs you offer. Wattage with the suggested drivers or efficiency? Also I see the 35 mm heat sink is compatavle with the clu48 but driven at different wattages will they still cool enough?

Another question, do you have it a dial on your pot for the different amperages? I have yet to figure that out, as I run my cxb 3590's and 3070's wide open. I have only dimmed twice maybe. It's good to know I could ramp up the pot if wanted to 1400.

BTW, i'm really diggin' that new frame design you and bobby worked out. Nicely done.
