buds seem small

You still have 2-3 weeks to go..
Give it some p and k, bat guano if you want organic. Try a 30% -40% isopropyl spray to contact kill the mites.

How much direct sun do they get a day?

Captian Jacks spinosad will rid the mites. A couple foliar treatments with it added in wiyh a couple waterings for systemic will rid them.

Buds are fine but the plants look small.
Did you take of the leaves or stems or something?
That's why I asked. They look small or missing branches or something.
I seen that at Wal-Mart.
Its good stuff. Its made from a bacteria only found in a old rum distillery. Safe to use until a few days before harvest.
Be careful outdoors its toxic to bees for 30 min after applying.

Its good for any leaf eating pest.

Of them just grew o

So because the plants are small they won't produce big buds
Big roots, big plant, big buds.

Different strains have different bud shapes. Those look about right for late planting I guess.

If planted earlier they would've grown bigger and branched out more.

The only way you could get them bigger is if you ran them a bit longer. Considering the late start. That's about all you could do. That is. If the weather permits it.

Then again. Our spring was supposed to have started a month ago. We've only just seem the first few nice days. So who knows what the weather will be like for you. Maybe you'll also get a delayed season.
