hey can you guys post if you tried Nirvana "Big Bud" strain.

does it really live up to the hype:

Big Bud is one of the oldest commercial strains. Big Bud is bred for maximum yield without too much compromise on quality. The branches may become so heavy with flowers that they may need to be tied up. Big Bud has some Skunk characteristics and a fairly long lasting high.

Plant height: Medium- Indica/Sativa mix
Stoned or high?: Stoney yet high- Allround Buzz
THC level: Medium 8-15%
Flowering Weeks: 8/9
Yield : 600 grams
Harvest Month: 10

From what I remember, Nirvana has another strain which was cross-bred with another strain to increase the potency while maintaining the yield. I forget the name now but that's what I would order.

my favorite, constantly going in my grow, big yield and kill smoke if cured well. puts your ass down to the couch for some time. kind undefined to harsh weedy in taste, so it has to be cured well, water curing is great on it. and it is fair to grow, measured in other strain difficult then NN or skunk#1 but easier then WW. hesi hydro nutes for grodan and biobuzz for soil been so far my best choices in terms of nutes.

The big bud I tried wasn't all that great to be honest, but I'm not sure which version of big bud it was (there are at least three different strains all called "Big Bud").

I'm not a commercial grower, but I've smoked quite a bit of commercial bud. My favorite commercial strain (by far) was Chronic from Serious Seeds, and it is very high yielding also. I prefer a mostly sativa type high, and the big bud I have had was like a very generic mostly indica which just isn't my thing. Chronic starts out feeling like a sativa, then after an hour or two it starts turning into an all around high and then an hour or two later feels mostly like a body stone - it's pretty cool trip overall - especially for a commercial strain... =)

i guess you referring to NLxBB, i wasn't to thrilled by this strain, rather grow NL or BB or make your own crossing of both but the nirvana strain isn't my way:roll:

sure, BB is a harsh indica hammer even if it has 1/4 sativa in it genes... chronic is really on the other side of the spec;)

would you recommend to harvest when the trichs are only cloudy for BB to counter act its already high body buzz?? or is there more thc over all when you harvest at amber trichs?

i mean this questions strictly relating to this strain. when would you recomend harvest useing the trich color method?

i've grown nirvana bigbud both outdoors and indoors, outdoors it gets moldy very easily i lost quite a bit of bud to mold on my bigbud plants. if you get the right pheno you will get good yields altho there are a few different phenos with bigbud, i prefer the more indica pheno it stay rather short and produces pretty good if grown under the right conditions indoors. my only problem with bigbud (other than the mold )was the high, i thought it was rather moderate, maybe because i have a high tolerance due to constant smoking lol. anyway gl with your grows!

Yea, the Big Bud I have had in the past only got you moderately high no matter how much extra you smoked, and the quality of the high was very "generic" feeling - there just wasn't really anything SPECIAL about it.

To be honest, since I don't get high all that often anymore, I'd usually rather enjoy being sober than smoke the Big Bud I've experienced (or other mediocre strains). These days, if I can't smoke something exceptional, I'm just not all that interested anymore. My God, I've turned into a "Pot Snob!". LOL

if the high wasn't suiting you well i would say you managed to mess up bro:D that is the only reason really lately why i still stick to BB:blsmoke: big yield with a big high at the cost of easy work:roll: i'm such a bum

I've grown BB, you can't really LST it, it's too thick, unless you start very early. I dunno about you guys but I smoke all the time and that BB was comparable to any other dank. I slow cured it.:weed:

Oh yeah, my BB Looks EXACTLY like some weed guys were selling around my parts as haze, the weed tastes, looks and smells the same.
I even kept a nugget of the haze for comparison to the one tiny nug of BB I have left.

I was planning on starting the LST at the 2nd or 3rd node. And Patience is DEFINATELY a virtue,
Slow cure all the way!!:hump::hump:

I got some Nirvana Big Bud freebies when I made an order through Seed Boutique years ago (Back then was Gypsy Nirvana). I grew them outside and was pleased. They pretty much fit the description to the T. Nice old school skunk flavor. Potency not off the hook but then there is no claim to be. Did the job ok, was short lived but ya looked forward to that nice old school tasty skunk bud so not a serious issue cause she puts out real well.

I didn't have an issue with mold and grew her under the stars with no cover. I'd do it again outside just to have a stash of that old school flavor.
