This is just my opinion... but I think that since you two were technically not a couple, she was fair game. However, he promised you that he wouldn't fuck around. He broke a promise and thats a chitty thing to do to a friend... but still not a good enough reason to knock him out. Knocking someone out is a serious thing. Its not like on the movies where people get knocked out left and right like its no big deal.

People have DIED from one punch. You could've killed him. Do you know why people get "knocked out" from a punch? Its because their brain slams into the inner wall of their skull. I'd be more cautious about punching people in the face if I were some of you people who talk about hitting people for relatively trivial reasons. I only hit people in defense of my own life or the lives of my loved ones.

It was the first time I had ever knocked ANYONE out. It made me sick about 30 seconds afterwards, because I could hear him choking on the blood from his lip. =x We're still good friends, as this was about 5 months ago. And I tell you what, my peers respect me ALOT more now. I not the type that goes around punching people. Im not a thug, or wanna be gangster. Im a long haired stoner, who gets along with (almost) everyone. This was the first time anger just completely took over. I learned my lesson about hitting people, as I was threatened with a aggravated assault since it required stitches. He never pressed charges on me though. That wouldve ruined my life.

Few beers and one punch = dead best friend and life in stripes.

I waited until the next day, when we were both very sober. It was a very bad day. I love the guy, I was just drunk on anger.

very similar thing happened to a buddy of mine in highschool when I was younger.
My buddy went into a coma and died the next day on new years eve after a punch from a pussy hit him in the back of the head and broke his brain stem.
If he had of ived he would have been paralyzed for life...

I got a memorial tattoo for my buddy on my leg after all that...
