Should we punch nazis?

i dont think the call to violence is right in a democratic society. you said yourself in that post that its now escalating to where guns are now part of the equation

What I said is true. Fascism is based upon a few principles, one being that the strong should dominate the weak. It's not antifa who are calling for demonstrators to carry guns. It's the fascists who are calling for guns because they are scared of the large crowds that stand in opposition to them.

Fascists show up with body armor, shields, helmets, goggles, guns and have run counter demonstrators over, knifed them to death and speared people with the American flag. All the while they very directly tell us they intend to do worse to minorities if they get into power. Kids in black do funny karate moves and most often take the worst of the damage. Yet you villify the kids and glorify the neo-nazi. Makes no sense to me.

Same crap was said about and done to anti-war protesters and civil rights protesters in the sixties. That makes no sense to me either.

Except...the underlying means in "a democratic society" IS violence or the threat of it for disobedience to the edicts.

both sides are going to ready to fight antifa carry weapons themselves. there was the bike lock attacker at berkley last year hitting random people in the crowd without provocation.

i dont remember seeing the nazi' wearing sheilds and body armour before antifa turned up

its an escalation on both sides

I know you can't be bothered to check facts before you post, so I'll just point out that my response to the question about punching Nazis is that I've seen it done and it didn't bother me. I'm not advocating sucker punching somebody out of nowhere. I'm just not bothered by it if it happens.

Antifa are antifascists. The stand against fascists marching in our streets and I'm 100% behind that. When necessary, they use defensive force. I'm not antifa but I've stood with them. Not at the recent counter-demonstration but at others. The fascists come from hundreds of miles away to disrupt Portland just to make a point. We locals stand against their hate speech and won't let them march in our streets.

After all was said and done in Charlottesville last year, the authorities all agreed that the violence was entirely due to the fascists. What part of that can't you understand?

The guy who used that lock was identified and prosecuted.

I saw the video. The guy that used the lock shouldn't have done what he did. I wasn't particularly bothered by it. White supremacists preach hate and violence. Turnabout is fair play.

If that's all you've got then look harder. Practically all the mayhem is done to counter demonstrators who oppose fascists. Their acts of violence are working against them. Ever since Charlottesville, they have been losing ground. If your point is that violence isn't a good tactic to get one's point across in this country, we have proof that you would be right.
 
Questions about civilization aren't easy. The Mayans who were a terrible culture were almost wiped out by Spaniards as well as disease. They butchered other cultures and were a threat to other civilizations. Should we have punched them in the nose or let the direction they took with their beastly rituals. Civilization. Interesting word.
