Seed Production. A Tutorial

Thank you Faded, for teaching us new things, and for corroborating my conjecture on a few points...that was satisfying.
But not as satisfying as successfully, selectively pollinating one branch on a girl. I flowered her out until very ripe, looking more for a couchy effect, as I didn't expect my pollination experiment had worked.
Twelve seeds dropped out as I trimmed her after drying the entire plant.
In nature, these seeds would get moistened when they hit the ground, and germinate immediately, so I followed that cue, and soaked them immediately in coconut water (from a fresh coco not a can). White root tips appeared the next day. 5 of 6 beans popped and are growing well.
I'm a long way from selecting traits and developing strains. But I'm thrilled to have seeds because they are expensive and risky to buy! An it's nice that these were a "home birth". Thanks again for sharing your vast and comprehensive knowledge

I'm interested in breeding with my current plant. I like her growth and the high she produces. I have cloned her. But, I'd prefer to have some seeds too. Only thing is. I don't know what she is. The only thing I do know is that she takes at least 2.5 months to flower.

I'd love to get some Auto in the mix. Or something Sativa. Any suggestions? Or places that do male pollen?

I'm in Australia. Probably makes that a bit harder. Uh- and I don't really know too many people that grow. Those that do. Rip at the first sign of being male.

I'll look into it. Cheers Jay.

-edit- looked through their pages. They've literally got nothing to sell. All items are out of stock.

Just followed your tutorial with unwanted sunshine daydream males, I picked 1 Which looked like a lady boy with it's short nodes and was bushy af, I pollinated psychosis, I'm hoping that the yield will go up as she's not much of a giver but quality smoke, I rate this psychosis as the stinkiest weed I've ever grown nothing comes close not even the bodhi strains I got match the smell lol

How did those turn out?

I just pollinated a few different strains with SSDD male also

Nice mate,I didn't go big just incase it was average, I ended up with 2 phenos,2 of which was a keeper and still got her but ain't run her because I got testers and new stock to do first, I recently crossed Blueberry Hashplant male with female psychosis too,got 1 in flower now and ended up with 3 from 4 females,2 different phenos, flowering the fastest growing one.✌

Seems like I got a male from the seeds i was told was feminized. I have two plants and one is showing what looks like early pollen sacks and one what I think is early fem preflowers. So mye guess is that the guy I bought the seeds from lied about them beeing feminized and its most likely regular seeds.

The thing is they Are both the same strain (afghan skunk) so they Are already crossed. Is it a bad idea tho make seeds from them? Im out of seeds and is kinda risky to order online in the country I live in.

Make some seeds. If you're out and they're hard for you to obtain it only makes sense that you would make some more.

Good luck.

Hey members, bumping into this thread for the first time !
It is now almost impossible to get beans from overseas to Aus, Hence wishing to have a crack at producing some of my own with the exceptionally limited seed I have remaining
Totally understand the concept of it all and how to produce fem pollen,
I'm sure it has been asked many times before but what do you peeps, consider the optimal time to apply the pollen to the bud
3 week 4 week. And how many times would you brush the pollen on to the bud site
Cheers
Poon

Once the plant shows female
One time is all it takes
I usually rinse off pollen after 24 hours to avoid it spreading
Allow six weeks for mature seeds

Would you end up with more total seeds if you waited until week three or four, and had more total pistils?

You'll end up with the most seeds if you start pollinating a couple weeks in when the plants are obviously flowering and then by pollinating again as new pistils form. More pollinated pistils means more seeds. I've dusted plants 3 times spaced a week or so apart when I was doing a 100% seed run with a plant and wanted as many seeds as I could get.
