Hooked up the cmh bulbs I just got and holy shit they are hot. my tent went over 90. returning them and getting an LED. Do the hlg 550 get hot? was also looking at the spydrx lights. anyone have info on those?

Just from my experience... my 600 watt HID requires 2 exhaust fans and a window unit keeping the area cool (summer in the south, hot and humid). My LED (in a tent) I have one exhaust fan at the top of the tent and in a room that is 70 degrees I have to keep the tent closed with the fan off most of the time to keep the temps in the upper 70s. If I turn on the exhaust fan at the top of the tent, my temps are generally around 73-75 so only around 5 degrees higher than the normal room temp.

around 18" but that can change depending on how I feel the plants are reacting. Sometimes I will go lower, sometimes higher.

u went from 1000w to 315's and they are to hot? Your temps must have been insane before the switch.

So I bought this cmh. does this look like a good one? The phantom brand is what my grow store sells

Phantom does not have a good reputation. Philips is much better.
