Seems like bluelabs items are out of stock. So i ordered through growace. After a month they said they were out of stock. Ive also tried ordering through amazon at the beginning of covid-19 and they wanted a month wait time, and then seems like they went out of stock also.

MY question is there another soil pH pen out there? i cant seem to find one online.

how much are you trying to spend? Look into the "leap " probe by bluelab. Also I saw apera is a good recommended brand~ haven't checked that out. I was surprised with how fast the ph readings are on my leap probe... If i didn't already have a PPM meter, I would have gotten the combo PPM model. I also love you can replace the probes!

I'd like to spend around 160 since that's how much the blue lab soil pH probe was. I already have a good pH pen for water and solution. I'm looking for something I can stick in the soil and get a soil pH reading

checking out apera now

The leap probe from this site for PH alone is 175$ + shipping
the one that includes a ph and ppm meter is 200$ + shipping from the same site. I wish I had gotten a combo meter after realizing this, but am still very satisfied with my soil meter...

What I have learned...
Properly amended soil or hydro, the PH direct meter is usually useless. If you are amending or watering correctly, PH will not be an issue. It is good for learning though!! It will tell you how low your stupid bagged soil is getting throughout the grow.

After owning a PH soil meter, I have directed myself towards hydro indoors (for less bugs) and all organic outdoors (work in progress: main idea is to recycle)

the probe still needs to be cleaned like any other probe. It has a lead on it also so you can just stab it in there and have the readout closer to you.

Too many reasons why the pen style PH probe sucks. I still use my PPM pen style probe all the time. It has never had a slow response or been inaccurate

Great info thanks. Perhaps im not properly amending or watering.

Im having calcium issues, and I could have sworn it was pH related but could be wrong.

Ocean forest/happy frog 50/50 with perlite. amended and let sit for a few months with all purpose 4-4-4, flower girl 3-9-4, kelp meal, fish bone meal, EWC. I think thats it. That might lie in my trouble right there but its an experiment run. Trying to get away from bottled nutes. Running autos and i reamended with just the 3-9-4 after 30 days. Also started using calmag because of the deficiency.

What else.. using tap water, but its ran through a filter first. 6.8 pH and 200ppm. Temps 80F, 50% RH. SF1000 and HLG 135w v2 (HLG at 50% power right now) 3 gallon smart pots.

My happy frog soil I found was very low in PH. It would set around 5.0-5.5 pH and wouldnt go up with pH'd water. I ended up switching to coco now I don't use the meter as much for direct measuring because the water I feed with is pH'd the pH swings are much more controllable now. If I didn't have a direct medium PH probe, and only a liquid one, I would say Im ok in hydro. It will be a great tool to have though if you are building your own soil~ I would go ahead and get the one that does PPM as well, for only a little more dough
