Hi everyone,I've been lurking around for years and don't really post to often let alone start my own thread.but was thinking I might post a journal of my next grow, just because I'm going to run around thirty seeds from 3 different breeders(ethos, cannarado and greenpoint) and a few strains of each one.im doing this because I'm hoping to find a couple super nice phenos, the last few runs i ran seeds from ocean grown, top dawg and cannarado but I did less plants that were bigger.was nice when you get a good plant when they are big but sucks with the ones that you don't like.i don't take to many pics but I will put some up of the bud porn if people are interested. anyways time to stop rambling
here's a pic of the packs
6 cherry gar seeya (ethos)fems
6 banana hammock(ethos)fems
5 gelato margy (cannarado)
5 skunky margy (cannarado)
6 thin mint x doho (cannarado)freebie
5 wedding cake x doho (cannarado)freebie
5 copper chem (greenpoint)
5 chem daiquiri (greenpoint)

WP_20200710_21_47_27_Rich_LI.jpg
so if anyone is interested I can do a small journal
Maybe you all can give me some good advice,I've been growing for 10 years,id say I'm average grower so keep that in mind I'm not that skilled but I get the job done.
my bud is usually quality but my yields aren't all that good compared to what I see people post that they are yielding.
anyway if anyone is interested in me updating this or have experience with any of these strains feel free to chime in
thanks

i have a question for someone with alot of seedling and organic experience, i only fill the cups halfway when i put seeds in so that when they shoot up and get all unstable i just fill the rest of the cup and they are then stablized. so heres the question when i fill the cups up to stablize can i use a really weak strength of top dressing. i have been just feeding plain water for the last few runs doing only organic so i dont really want to use pure blend if i don't have too but i will if i might burn or kill the seedling if i give them the top dress now. ,i use gaia green all purpose dry amendments that i mix myself with promix. so if i cut the top dress like 10 promix to 1 top dress would that be ok? or is that to weak or to strong? or just use regular promix to be safe and just give a little pure blend? any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hey, great seed selection! Real interested in how that Ethos gear does so I'll be following along ...

Sorry I can't help with your seedling question, I've never used promix. I would think mixing a little Gaia in there would be fine though ... I usually start my seeds in potting mix that is hotter than your top dressing.... hopefully someone else chimes in though, I don't want to be responsible if it doesn't work out haha

you killem you buyem is my motto...lol
i was thinking the same as you but just wanted some confirmation before i go and kill my seedlings
i just mix gaia green all purpose 4-4-4 with pro mix at the rate stated on the gaia green tub for hanging baskets and planter boxes then i top dress with the same thing but instead of the 4-4-4 mix i used there power bloom at about 2 weeks and 5 weeks of flower(really seems to bulk them up can actually notice the next day after top dressing and watering the buds are bigger)dont think this run im going to top dress just cause there are so many plants but we will see
so you put your seedling right in a hot soil mix?

Yeah, but I do start them in rapid rooter plugs, they're usually a couple days old when they go in ... but its straight into Fox Farms Ocean Forest or Coast of Maine Premium from there.

well in that case they should be fine....can probably use the top dress at like 5 -1 or even stronger.
i used to use ffof but i switched to gaia green dry amendments, i just mix it with pro mix but im sure you can use any bulk soil.
i did a side by side of ffof and the mix i put together(just the recipe on the tub) both same clone same size pot and same size clone and the gaia green one blew the ffof out of the water so much so that i tossed the ffof one after a month of the side by side because i needed the space and the gaia green one was close to double the size

Yeah, I actually do my own super soil now for the same reason ... I use Coast of Maine as a base and add a whole bunch of ammendments ... I actually feel like the Fox Farms products have gone downhill since they started carrying them at the big box stores

Edit: I still use FFoF sometimes but only for the top few inches ... I layer it over the super soil which is too hot early on. Plamts explode when the roots reach the amended layer

question what kind of yeald you get with your super soil?
I usually get around a half gram per what....best I ever did was .75 how but that was with dnf wich is a hydro nutrient.
I see on here people saying they get 1-2.5 gpw
now I know I'm not a great grower but that's a big difference, and I saw someone post in another section that they get 2oz per gallon of soil with pure blend and pro mix that seems pretty good to me
am I doing something wrong?lol

Hard to say, I'm still new to it and its a work in progress. My first batch wasn't balanced enough and I ran into some deficiencies early on. This round is going better ... the one thats in veg is doing the best...

And I do a staggered harvest thing so g/w is never something I think about. Personally I think people care too much about yield (and have a tendency to lie about it on the internet)... I care more about the quality... the taste... the smell... the high. And variety.

This is a 3thirteen Monkey Juice in my last super soil mix @ 4 weeks of flower, 5 gallon smart pot, grown under a 315cmh to start, now in a bigger tent with the CMH and a Quantum board... I just top dressed with a little compost and some seabird guano ... thats the best indication of yield i can give lol

Just curious what light your using?

I can agree with that...but I would like to yield more obviously,I use two 600 hps for flower and a 400 mh for veg.
I'm not sure or not if people are exaggerating on here about yeilds to say 2-3 gpw seems insane to me though.but I'm also doing organic so who k ows, when I got the .75 it was all one strain, where now I do a few cause I like the variety
WP_20200503_01_24_20_Rich_LI.jpgthink that's the nicest looking one of my sundae driver bx from last run, think it was in a 3 gallon container and think that's around week six

They look lovely! I dont think your doing anything wrong man ... I think more people get in that .5g to 1g per watt range than want to admit it ... I've only seen a few people legitimately pull 1.5g to 2g per watt and they were almost always coco/hydro and really dialed in ... or maybe a SCROG with a really long veg time ...

I think your right about the yield
most people that get over 1 are coco or hydro, would like to get mine closer to 1gpw but not sure ill be able to pull it off without sacrificing quality and im not willing to do that.would much rather get .5 gpw of top quality than 1gpw of medium grade

I'm terrible at estimating yield, plus its my first time with this strain ... somewhere between 100g and 150g would be my best guess ... I actually just started weighing my harvests because people keep asking ... I just harvested a 4 Assed Monkey auto from the same super soil mix and got 68g, figure this should be about double that

update
pretty much everything cracked except 1 thin mint x doho I cracked myself(sometimes after a few days of soak and no tail I push on both ends to try and open it up slightly before I put it back in the paper towel)except this time it kept slipping so I used some tweezers and crushed the seed:oops::oops::oops: and one wedding cake x doho plus one of the wedding cakes looks like thisWP_20200715_12_04_21_Rich_LI.jpgWP_20200715_12_03_57_Rich_LI.jpg
anyone seen this before

my guess would be somewhere around 5+ Oz.....looks pretty big an phat, are the buds dense or fluffy?
Hell yeah man, off to a good start! I had a seedling yesterday that couldn't get her helmet off and I did the same thing ... tried to remove it with tweezers ... not sure if she'll make it

The buds on that girl are really dense, 3thirteen doesn't mess around with their genetics, she's packing on weight daily ... your estimate may end up being the more accurate one!

I had to take off at least 5 helmets by hand....the seed with the tweezers hadn't cracked at all and i was trying to crack it just a hair before i put it in the paper towel to get the seed to sprout a tail, its worked on a few occasions for me in the past actually dit it to like 3-4 of these seeds that didnt crack at all after the first 48 hours in the towel
