Yes me too. These people are using fire to help destroy our country. In the satellite images of the fires up and down the west coast it looks like a pattern of terrorism. Like they are set almost at equal distance apart.

I stand corrected but I should have clarified I was talking about far left antagonist. Were these people setting them far left antifa? Seems their all out setting fires and looting ! I guess the Mexicans will be next .

Plant a redwood tree everywhere there is a empty spot with a nice little plant guild around it to feed it's roots and let nature take back over the areas. Train the trees to hold mini satellite/camera systems and put all the power lines underground.

We have very strict building codes for new construction here in the North State if you are in an area that is considered prone to fires. The WUI, wildland–urban interface.
I read a statistic somewhere that roughly 50% of the newest homes that were built with these updated codes survived the Camp Fire. There wasn’t many of these “Newer” homes up there.

as far as what needs to be done, i think ALLOT of different things need to be done. For the future and to help prevent these things from happening, or happening as often, would be reducing our greenhouse gas output.

The clearing of brush and dead fuel from these increasingly long droughts need to be addressed. Hardly an easy thing to do. A larger investment from the fed to fight these fires. Shit, most of them start on Federal land. I could go on and on.

i don’t know what the hell we can do about the fires like down in Santa Rosa, The Tubbs fire, though. I just know there isn’t a silver bullet for any of this. It’s not looking good.

Here there is no moisture to retain. It doesn’t rain here now until november. From Sep-November(make that August-Nov now)t’s super super dry, very low humidity from the increasingly stronger winds. This will describe it better than I can.

I’m no expert but one issue is yes the build up of dead material that has not been burnt and builds to creat extremely hot fires. Quick response and aerial bombing can help but due to the extreme drought and heat it’s the perfect storm for fires everywhere hopefully the damage to life can be mitigated but it’s fucked up. My kid is bracing for a prolonged cat 2 hurricane due to hit tonight .

Much of this is due to bad forest practices that went on for decades. We used to have diverse forests and old growth. When a fire went through it would clean out the underbrush but the trees would survive. After they clear cut the old growth they replanted mainly Douglas fir as it was a money crop for the timber companies and they planted them too close only thinking about future harvests and not the health of the forest. There is no diversity in many of the forests and also many of the forests are diseased and infested with pests that attack trees that are already weakened by drought conditions and Douglas Fir does not tolerate the extreme drought conditions like we've been having.

These are not natural forests. Those were cut down a long time ago. These are basically man made tree farms. And we all know that when it comes to nature man does more harm than good.

I'm hearing up to 12+ inches of rain in some places.

As bad as the fires are out here in the west we must also remember that there is a slew of bad weather headed for the eastern United States and the Gulf states. This could be a very bad hurricane season and people across the country are going to lose lives and property.

Regardless of where you live stay safe. This is going to be one crappy year for so many.
