Root rot? Do not wanna watch her dying live...

I Know its lil bit off... But I have bought a plant to our new house 4 months ago, she was doing well untill I forgot to empty the saucer after watering. She was soaking in for two days and now she looks like this (massive continuos leaf loss). Watered the same way like weed in soil, no nuts at all. Can this be just that the winter came and it is just too cold for her? I suspect root rot since it has been 2+ weeks since last watering and she still has not dried out. Tried to help it with a heating pad but I do not know... It is tearing my heart to watch her dying live really. Somebody help please.

You should try to repot it into fresh soil and maybe a new pot with better drainage. Take it out, wash off the roots and see how bad the rot is-you might be able to cut a lot of it out. You could probably even treat the roots with h2o2-I can't remember the concentration off hand but you can find it by searching these or other forums. Then repot it in fresh soil with better drainage-maybe add 25% or so perlite. It should have dried out in 2 weeks so it's probably both the pot and media that's retaining the water. Good luck! If you have any mycorrhizae/rhizobacteria powder, I'd dose the roots with it before I repot.

Yeah the pot sucks a lot. Even more sucking is trying to find a suitable pot big and nice enough and if than it costs like €70 almost as the plant did. She used to dry out in a week but one day I was lazy to empty the saucer and second day did not notice, forgot and third day she dropped. Do you think the soil like promix will be okay? Its crazy what can leaving the plant sitting in water cause...

This is the medium she lives in now...

3%h2o2 soak for 1hr then flush with plain water and then give. A light feeding take a bunch of hydrogen peroxide fill a large bowl with it and place the pot inside of the bowl make sure the h202 is level with top of pot weigh it down so it doesn’t float u should be good after that

if you do the h2o2 thing your going to kill all your microbes and will probably burn off the fine root hairs.

You say root rot but you dont really know just guessing so that is your first mistake ...dont let a plant sit in run off swill that gets hot and isnt good for it.

OP flush pot renute add back the microbes. You said heating pad ...does it have a temperature control on it??? if not then it might be cooking the roots ..idk

if its cold then a heating pad would help maybe wrap a towel around the pot to keep the heat in but it needs a temp controller

imo it just got cold and slowed down... over watered sat in swill and might of nute burned it some...those leaves are not going to turn green again. and I think that its root bound more than anything such a big plant in a small pot.

They go dormant in winter only need water maybe every two weeks. Sitting in the water could have caused the isssue.. Let her dry up if possible prop the pot onto something so the base gets airflow - If the roots are rotten u need to let it dry asap.

Clip off all the brown parts of dead foliage not whole leaves and put them it in the pot.

Maybe amend top soil with a bit of alfalfa meal and a tad of dolomite lime if u have any but not too much of either..

u can also cut off the head that you are showing with your hand to propagate a new one. Sometimes with canes the root rot will travel from the inside of the cane up to the head and it is dead before u can visibly see the bark peeling away from the main stalk. Is the main stalk mushy at all?

Thank you all for the replies, she was like two times bigger, leaves were pointing straight up, she was “full” of life and happy. One lazy watering and she is going to die... for sure I try to do something but I feel like have only one shot, so just wanted to hear the opinions of others. I love all kind of plants and they ussually dont die in my hands, but this is terrible, she was or still is my favourite. I think the best thing to do is to repot with some h2o2 root rinse.

Heating pad was just for help the drying, its elevated few mm above it, so it just a hotter air going around the pot. Highest temp of the pad is 36 degrees of Celsius.
Perhaps just a repot / H202 will kill off any beneficial bacteria if any as well as any rot - if there is any. Is the stalk mushy?
Not yet but he looks like its shrinking and drying but still solid.

Plant is still being connected to the medium very strong, no move so the roots are still living maybe
Root rot in those types the stalk will be mushy. I wouldn't transplant it. I would however still elevate the pot off the floor. Flip the drain plate over and put it on that or something.. so it can breathe from the bottom and let it dry until you can pick up the container with little effort.

Consider giving it 1/4 strength of your cannabis feed assuming what they potted in is average loamy ass soil. Also make sure it is getting adequate window light it looks like it may not be getting enough indirect sunlight...
