Hey everyone...happy new year :)
I used to frequent this site years ago but cant remember any of my info to log in so just made a new account. More of a lurker so not like I lost anything exciting. Be interesting to see whos still around?
But I finally got rid of my HPS and went with LEDs and realized I've been growing so long with my set up it never occurred to me to see what was new out there until my buddy told me about these LEDs (they've come a long way) so I'm back to poke around and hopefully learn something new. So forgive me if I post in the wrong spot or add a bad link :)

OMG...its like going caveman to the Jetsons! Got rid of all that ducting, way less heat, lower power consumption. I went with spider farmer. Sleek and clean...
I started when the only things on the market were MARS and MARS clone look a likes. Blurple color. Two of them. I never grew anything worth a damn with them. I still have them. They live under the bed.

Then I eased dropped on the LED section here in 2016. After that, I build my own lights. I won't buy commercial stuff. Unless I can mess with it.

Enter COBs.

Started at 6 cobs and small driver. Bought two more COBs and a bigger driver. Settling on 10 pods hanging over a 2.5' x 4.5' shelf. 98 cubic feet(?)walk in closet.

Since I don't weigh my crop. Last crop had 4 medium plants and the one before it was 4. I pulled 14 jars on one. 15 on the other.

Now I run two big plants.

I've never even heard of COB lighting.
See 20 minutes in and I'm already learning new stuff lol
I'll have to check into this.
I cant really gauge how good the LEDs I've have yet, because the last 2 runs I got some kind of blight which really stressed the plants. But I usually run 6 plants and get 2 jars per so your ahead of me.
I had 3 HPS lights and slowly changed them out to the LEDs and from what I can tell they hold there own. Now I have 3 SF4000 in a 12ftx5ft space so we'll see how that goes.
I'm more about rotation. One section done move in the new ones. That way I crop every few weeks.

I'm a winter grower. Growing plants is a bit of a pain with me. Mixing fert solution for 5 months. Two to three times a day. Watching the thermometers. Fighting the occasional knat.

I grow enough for myself and wife. Enough to last at least 12 months and I'm out. My cycle is once I get down to 5-8 jars. I grow again. As for doing this everyday all year long. Ill leave that to you.

Some of us older perpetual growers have seen so much weed grown under hps, it's like an old friend ya roll a doob with....so i's hard to turn loose...
Although I've made the change to all led, I still use a hps alongside for heat during winter grows.
Now running a combination of cobs and qb, I can adjust each to benefit the whole grow area or isolate a particular plant according to growth stage,
You'll like the benefits of led, especially with the environmental change that comes with them.
Years ago, I ran 1000w + 400w+400w hps and heat forced so many gyrations, led has been a godsend....Now running 500-600w total wattage in led, I'm at least equal to hps and seasonally much better.

I ran a 1000w and 2 600s...now I have 3 SP400 which I believe is the equivalent of 800w so roughly 2400w
But I had the old stuff so dialed in I never even thought about change until a saw a friends setup. Ultimately I think its better.
