Yes you are correct.

no , the second one is not series at all and you cannot wire them that way. Thats what i was talking about when i said not to use the strips to power each other....big no no.
Yes sorry you are correct I uploaded the wrong pic that was for regular 50/50 color strips

yes Its all about spread, if you can spread the heat out you can run the lights closer to the canopy and get deeper penetration
Ok, and that's exactly what I'm looking to do. Strips are going to be the way I go for my next light. Is there anything else I should know about strips?

i have made several frames with superglue and pvc/metal tent poles. You may splurge and get screws instead of glue :bigjoint: but at the time i wanted to build a light right now and ace hardware is almost 3 min away :bigjoint: some folks are just plain lazy

Oh , and look around the forums for threads like this one , you can find crazy good deals.
I have several but the last ones i bought were like 80cents each plus a giant tarriff of 70 cents ,so 1.50 each for some good strips.

My most efficient strips are h series samsungs and they have 48 diodes per 2 foot , these on this thread are 96 diodes per 2 foot. and im guessing that these are a higher efficiency rating then the h series.

Sounds like me. Lol

So these strips on here are good for the price? I'm guessing so since @dtcharneski posted them. Lol... so 12 strips with the driver you posted for 320 watts? If I can get the light lower for more penetration, 320 watts in a 3x3 should be sufficient, no?

I think you could almost max out a regular 3x3 setup with 320 watts IF your using a tent or something with 3 walls to bounce light off of. Thats 35 watts a sq/ft. Some call that "low" but its plenty for most peoples setup. I got giant colas from 25 watts a sq/ft with the light 30" away from most plants.

If your running 400 watts now in a 3x3 then you would be the only one to really know if your strain can handle 45 watts a sq/ft. with your environment and feeding schedule.

Well like I said, with the cobs, I got foxtailing. It was probably more my fault ( I ran out of headroom). I should've dimmed the light but I didn't want lower buds to suffer. I feel the strips might work better.

Comparing to the non on sale price at arrow then yes they are a good deal. but i have no idea the efficiency rating on these strips making it hard for me to answer. Cree seems to be a solid diode but thats all i know.....same with samsung, they have quality diodes but it depends who puts the diodes on the pcb's.

considering they are a 98 cri , i would say thats a great deal but you may want to wait for others to answer , they have much more knowledge then me and understand them spec sheets better.

they do in house testing of all their diodes, when I was building my last light I originally ordered the bridgelux thrives but they informed me the leds test at sub par quailty, so they might have test results for you to check out

I guess I'm gonna have to do more research on the whole diy led thing. I have a decent understanding of electrical circuits, but there's so much to learn. It's kinda overwhelming. I've done a lot of researching, learning, applying just to grow. Now I gotta do a refresher on electrical circuits and wiring, and that's before researching, strips, diodes, drivers. Lol

Thats what i did because i felt i had to..... im stubborn. I could of easily followed directions and done it and it would of worked fine but i chose to go the long route because i wanted to understand.

Nice, and I totally agree with that. It's just it's gonna take me forever to get it all in order. By then there will be new light tech. Lol
