Another Harvest and Trichome thread

People always ask when to harvest looking at trichomes, my question is when do you harvest? I know some people say amber and cloudy makes a huge difference in high do you think that's true? Because I had sativa leaning hybrids with ambers and was still a lot like a sativa high lol. Lets see some pictures of trichomes before harvest

I don't look at the trichomes. In fact I think the whole harvest when clear and cloudy for a head high or mostly amber for a body high is ridiculous and not as reliable as people seem to think. If you want a head high grow a sativa strain until it's done. If you want a body high grow a hybrid or indica until it's done. You don't need to look at the damn trichomes to know when a plant is done. People put to much emphasis on the damn trichomes and many harvest much too early because of it. Harvesting an immature plant because you're looking for a head high doesn't make any sense.

And that damn chart floating around people are going by is worthless and is a big cause of people harvesting early. They see some amber and start chopping when the plant still has weeks to go.

thats what I always was thinking but I lac experience man, so I always end up getting confused thanks for teaching me the whole confusion about that kills me sometimes. What signs do you look for I always just compare the buds to what I bought for years and when they look as close as the buds I had in my hands I chop

When the calyx have swelled and the pistils have retracted. I don't look at trichomes.

It’s also very nice to experiment yourself.
Ive read about the 7 day harvest window, and harvesting on day 2 versus day 6 or 7 sometimes yields a little different high.
That’s why it’s interesting to experiment with different strains to see how the ultimate effect is.

for sure im experimenting but people keep telling me waiting for ripening to complete is bad all the time that just seems like bullshit to me

That in itself sounds illogic.
Why wouldn't you let something finish/ripen before consuming it?

that what I think IMO people who harvest when only %60cloudy and rest still clear are harvesting way tooo fucking early that just cant be right

depends what youre using it for
if you want light color extract pick before amber.

I roll with this here too. Tired of looking at trichomes. I trained my eye on the calyx swelling over my last few grows. I make sure all the white pistils are mature and curling, by then I should have all the amber I need.

so youre telling me if i chop my plant half today and half tmrw ill get a diff buzz?
ive chopped hundreds of plants and usually takes a few days to get through a harvest and all the weed is the same.

Usually a few days to get through the harvest? so you’re labeling jars after each day ? Highly doubt it.

Don’t knock it until you try it
And when I mentioned it, I didn’t mentioned staggered harvest FYI. That’s what you were technically referring to in your response. I was not.
