ya in a couple weeks were gona strip them for clones and leave only top growth then hopefully switch lights to 12/12...my other journal will be strictly the LED..this will be with hps also...

Are you doing the whole grow with LED, even the flowering ? Are you going to use the Aussie Blues so you can compare to this grow ? If you are planning on flowering with LED's are you going to get LED's in the flowering range or stick with the UFO( one size fits all) ?

If it was me I would try setting up some LED's specifically for flower, I'd build a whole new fixture but I don't believe that is an option for you. Does someone sell something better suited to flower ? If so are you planning on getting it ?

Pure LSD emits bright sparks when shaken. Throw out your HID's and L.E.D's and shake up some cid for a light source! Mad loomers yo.

Yeah I don't want to discourage anyone or start an argument but I looked up information this morning on them. They use 1 watt LED's that put out 45 lumens a piece. They use 80 of them for 3600 lumens but the brightest will still be 45 lumens.

a 600 watt HPS puts out 95,000 lumens and the brightest is 95,000 lumens.

That souds about right I have a 400w HPS and a 90w UFO. I would not trade my 400w HPS for 4 90w UFO's because I get more that 4x more harvest from my HPS.

The UFO is nice because it will work in totally unventilated spaces. I can create a grow box out of a cardboard box and my UFO. The HPS would never work in a cardboard box.

wow la9 for being here argueing the whole time, u still dont know what im doing???i have a closet full gdp with strictly the UFO but thats the other thread...this one has the hps involved in it i got 2 of the 150s up...and no im not gona buy any more lights to add to the grows..only looking to improve my mother/clone spot..starting taking the clones yesterday and today but got too many then i can house right now so i still have alot of plants to go..its gona throw off the time schedule for a couple weeks but ill have to deal with it

anyone ever try doing a mix of HID and LED? I may run into some money here soon through an opportunity at work and I was wondering if the lumens from an HPS and the spectrum from the LED during flower (using it more for a direct source to deficient areas or the largest buds) would help/hurt/do nothing - or would I be better off with cfls? Just throwing that out there if anyone could give me an answer

I've been very busy and only caught the first few pages which had turned out to be a fail of bitching about which was better - i lost interest very soon. sorry i'll go back and look

i actually just posted like 3 above this saying what each room is...pretty sad u missed that one

sorry about that i was just readin' thru and stopped once i saw the bickering - not blaming either party, just got a bit bored reading ya know? thanks for the info an keep growin' man

p.s. i've read thru and good luck with that man. so are you doing a suppliment with this grow and the other is straight LED? if i'm reading correctly of course. its been a long night with lots of booze and drugs

I have been trying exactly that. I have a UFO that sits under the exhaust duct of my 400w HPS. The good thing is I get a little more out of mu closet with out adding much heat. In the first 2 weeks of flowering the plants that were under the UFO and HPS seemed to grow taller faster. Now I am about 6 weeks in to budding and the buds under the UFO look noticeably smaller. I have some fat buds forming all aound that space immediatly below the HPS and the plants that are mostly under the UFO are about 1/2 that size. I also have a bunch of those 50w red/blue LED panels on the wall. I am leaning twards removing all the LED panels from the flowering room and using them only for veg. From what I can tell the LED spectrum is bad for the buds.

I will try and get some pics to post. The place where the LED's are working out great is in the veg area, becasue it is a small area and the low profile and low heat makes it possible to veg them a little taller in that area.

UPDATE:

got 2 of the 150w HPS up including the UFO and everything looks good to me...the droopy looking plant by itself is the one the has been under the HPS a majority of the time...once again its hard to get decent pics in the small space but i tried to get some to show the under growth...hopefully i can get the clones off these once the cloners in the other thread clear up..then its off to flowering hopefully..

i have one of those and i'm a newbie. lets see how well it works for one or two plants. they r cheap at 30.00 and i was curious if they do work. now i see that led's can work yet i hope the little model works. i may have to use mhd's and put the led's on side

those led's are garbage. little christmas lights. the $30 dollar panels are more like ornamental than actual grow lights.

i guess you could use some combination of cfl's as your primary and supplement with that panel, but even as a veg light---one panel is garbage!

sorry to burst any bubbles.

exactly. like 5-10 years ago everyone thought that creating a "white" led was impossible because that would imply that your creating every spectrum of light at once with an led.....any "normal" led at the time could produce just a single wavelength of light. At the same time they went from being little indicators to being used in tail lights, stop lights, flashlights.....etc. anything really. in 5-10 more years there COULD be a single led that would put out the wavelengths plants use at an "intensity" that would dwarf anything else, using less power then even a 150w hid system.

i think the real problem is that no one is doing any research on growing plants with leds...the money just isn't there. otherwise we prlly would have a system like that today.
