Trump lawyers don't want to say if he declassified documents in FBI search

On Tuesday, Trump's legal team filed its response to the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, opposing the government's request and calling the Justice Department's investigation "unprecedented and misguided."

In their 40-page filing, Trump's attorneys said the court should not take the Justice Department at its word that the roughly 100 documents in question are in fact still classified, and said the special master should be permitted to review them as a step towards "restoring order from chaos."

If the documents are not classified, who declassified them? I guess they are saying the court should take Trump's word that he declassified the documents without any evidence -- or statement in court -- whatsoever. Even so, the crimes Trump is being investigated over does not require they be classified and the documents belong to the government regardless. The Appeals Court will have Trump's legal team's brief today. Let's hope for a speedy and proper decision by them.

Perhaps there is some evidence on those tippy top-secret documents, such as handwritten notes on them by Trump or maybe a price tag that Trump wants to hide? At the very least, fingerprints will tell an interesting tale.
Is that a legal strategy, or their reluctance to perjure themselves for him? It doesn't seem like much of a strategy, but they don't have a lot to work with...Box after box of non classified records he still shouldn't have had, and HUNDREDS of classified documents that never, ever should have been kept, they all should have been returned the same day they were given out...from my viewpoint, looking at all the stories, all the experts...there's no reason they shouldn't already have him in a cell, going over his movements and contacts for the last two years very, very carefully...in preparation for a espionage trial.

Lol, nothing fascist about that.

Surely you aren't suggesting we should subvert our justice system so you can roll out your own form of emotionally charged "justice" are you? That's dangerously close to the centralization of power to punish your political enemies.

Seriously, he took some files he doesn't have the comprehension to read and understand. What about that says we take all.his money? The punishment doesn't fit the crime, sir.
Civil suits will take his money and the save America money can be seized as part of a wire fraud indictment. It's harder to fight lawsuits while in prison and there are more than enough to clean Donald out. He will end up bankrupt, broke and in prison within a year or two at the most. The only thing he will have left is control over a few million morons, but he will need to do it during visiting hours at the big house.

The prints of any of his underlings on top-secret documents without proper clearances will mean big trouble for them and leverage for the DOJ, if they should need it. It might be interesting to see his minions and underlings go down over those documents, in the usual way, rapidly and harshly sentenced. There are sentencing guidelines and ample precedent here, so serious time would be involved. Donald is done and the only way out is death by cheeseburger.
this would actually be a very effective way to go...charge, and convict EVERYONE who touched those documents, saving trump for the very last...let him sweat, let him see all his rats getting ten year plus sentences, let him hear all of them selling him out...
see, the thing in georgia is just the kind of shit trump is good at weaseling out of, i don't see him getting indicted for that shit, ever, but i do see a lot of other people who aided and abetted go down...trump may be untouchable, for some fucking unfathomable reason, but without his aids, his sycophants, his handlers and corrupt lawyers, he is just a fat bag of orange shit

Everybody else who's prints are found, who was unauthorized, will get that standard treatment and promptly too, no waiting for the election. They might be sentenced before Donald is indicted and could get years!

“The government gives me prima facie evidence that these are classified documents,” Dearie said, referring to the plain markings on the records. “As far as I’m concerned, that’s the end of it.”

Doesn't sound like today's meeting went the way trump wanted.

there is nothing subversive in that, not one word, you just read it that way through your bias...
seizing funds that are obtained illegally is a standard legal practice, it's done all the time, to all kinds of criminal fucks, and trump is a criminal fuck...so requirements met...
trump was told, more than once, by competent legal advisors, that those papers DID NOT BELONG TO HIM...that it was illegal for him to have them, and he should return all of them...then he returned a few, and LIED THROUGH HIS FUCKING TEETH...AGAIN that he had returned them all...when the DOJ called him out on that lie, he lied AGAIN...until they had no choice but to go collect them, their selves.
they more than likely would have let it drop at that...but trump had to fucking open his fat fucking cocksucker and run it about how terrible the FBI and the DOJ had treated him, how they had been weaponized against him...when the fat fucking moron had been warned of just this fucking problem at least three separate times...so now, he has to pay the price any ordinary citizen would have to pay, because he couldn't shut his motherfucking mouth...again...

I don't read your emotional baggage.

Just so you know, you're only responding so your dumb friends give you likes.
no, i'm responding because i like fucking with fascists.
i like fucking with authoritarians.
i also try to hold out hope that one of you will have an epiphany, just like i did...that other people's lives matter just as much to them as my life matters to me...that helping other people is the right thing to do, that being afraid of other people, from other places, only made me a smaller, poorer person...that everyone has the same rights, not just those few that go to my church, or vote for my candidate, or dress the way i dress.
i don't hate individual republicans, unless they give me a reason to...i hate the ideology, the lying, the cheating, the out of the closet fascism...i don't even hate trump anymore, he's not worth the effort, and he's now irrelevant anyway...he'll never hold another public office, and the rest of the gop already wants him to just die and go away...it doesn't even matter if he goes to jail or not, he's already suffering the greatest punishment he can ever imagine...he's becoming known as a loser, and people who used to wait on his calls are now ghosting him...it will only get worse when he comes in 3rd or 4th, if allowed the freedom to run...the democratic and republican candidate will both beat him, and quite possibly an independent candidate will as well. the humiliation might kill him

To Trump, it would be worse than dismemberment.
Fair point.
I will reformulate a bit and not say “matters to” but “confers benefit to”.

While I would experience unalloyed pleasure at seeing that man suffer righteous consequence,
at day’s end the important thing is to disable him as a political force. Stopping all influx of money seems most effective and solidly within the bounds of justice, while incidentally quite cruel.

This cartoonist nailed the faces, just nailed them.

You can thank Biden for more of the that as he increased Federal enforcement of cannabis crimes. In fact, you can thank him for mandatory minimums and the drug war you spent most of your life paying for.

Lol
we're all aware of how he voted in the past, we looked it up ourselves, a long time ago...when he was making those votes. don't try to teach people who have seen a lot more of the world pass by than you have, junior, we were there for a lot of what you read out of a history book.
