Awaiting approval before 'being displayed publicly' - why? What happened?

Why isn't my thread being displayed anymore??

Posted earlier today, couple people replied - then all of a sudden my thread is nowhere to be found.

What gives.

@sunni

Why didn’t u make this question /thread in support section? No diss

I reported ur thread to staff so they can explain or figure it out to ya.

My guess it’s ur post count since u only have 1 total? I do see on riu they have issues in past of spammers postings ad’s to random stuff as new threads /replies and doing many times and even posting same thread intill basically the staff see.

I’m sure they will address/explain it np

Didn't think about it - been a long day - then I come here to see my thread disappeared. Was my first reaction.

My bad.
No problem buddy, just trying to help (not staff in anyway ) but also get it resolved for ya. shoot ur account is old. love to see some active og users ack on riu

I just noticed riu did have an issue with spam bots doing that and it was a semi issue where they could just recreate a new account and do it again. Your first time to say this approval part and my guess it’s a new thing (correct me if wrong)

It looks like something in your post may have triggered the spam filter. It's an automated system, and while it's rare, occasionally legitimate posts do get flagged by mistake.

It has 0 to do with post count. And no im not going to reveal WHY it happened. thats how spam bypasses it.

it went into approval /spam at 4:28 PM, and it's now 7:28 PM. Please keep in mind that we're not online 24/7, so there may be some delay in responses. And everyone is a volunteer here. cant say waiting a few hours is a big deal on a weekend.

Also, a quick note @compassionateExotic im sure you didnt INTEND for it to come off like it did but it came off really demanding and rude. the report and the comments here.. anyways to answer you specifically,

The reason this isn’t covered in the FAQ is because it’s not a frequent issue—almost 99% of posts flagged by the filter are actually spam. So it wouldn’t make sense to include something so rare.

Also, everything you guessed about the situation is unfortunately way off—like, really off.

There’s no need to make this a formal support topic either. It’s extremely rare that a real user gets caught by the filter, and we handle it as it happens. In over 10 years, I think this is maybe the second time someone has made a post about it. That’s hardly enough to justify a full write-up.

Not everything needs a public explanation, especially when it's a case-by-case issue. It’s better not to offer blanket answers when the specifics don’t apply to most users.

Yeah, cool. I'm not worried about the 3 hour response time - it just struck me odd that it was once visible - and then no longer was visible.

I've been in the cyber security industry for just about 15 years - I'm plenty familiar with spam filters/rules and how they work. I probably recognize the strings used that triggered the response - but that's beside the point.

Usually, something automated happens immediately, or if you're running a schedule - and the timing of it all threw me off. I wasn't sure if it bugged out, or somebody reported me - or what the deal was.

Either way, we have the answer. Much appreciated.

Why are ur taking everything as an argument ( not trying to argue, was trying to help) , all I did was make it so u could see and make ur own decisions. If you read my words I highlighted I was highlighting not staff Inabyway and referred u to address or pm, I also made it clear I didn’t know the reason why nor did I know the exact answer. But I did know and have reported to staff multiple times of some bots have posting spam related threads. sorry for helping

What I meant about him having his thread in unrelated was if he wanted his answered addressed for website support why post it in unrelated section of forum, that’s all I meant by that ( or pm staff)

To say reporting is acting like I want swift and 24/7 moderators was not the case of why I reported or brought it to ur attention .reporting isn’t demanding quick or asap actions, infact it makes it w/e ur here u can address it and see it cause many times if u were not here for days it could go blinded in the masses of threads or replies.
