Goto the video clip,
pause @ 1:19 - you will see that the chick has the fan mounted to the inside back wall of the cab which is attached to a scrubber
pause @ 1:30 - ducting exhausting air outside the box
pause @ 1:35 - birds eye view of the cab without the roof attached and there is no ducting attached to the cool tube, instead the heat seems to be ventilated with PC fans and heat is exhausted with the odor.

Is this environmentally smart seeing as though I have a cab in a closet and if you were to open the closet and the cab was locked you really wouldn't be able to tell what was in it if you didn't smell anything?

That's a fk'ing stupid layout man, I wouldn't use that.
With something like a 400W+ lamp, two PC fans (Not even blowing through the shade) are not going to do much cooling - maybe they're meant to help sweep hot air down or mix the air up inside?
Having the filter sucking air in beside the lamp will help, but why's it in a cool tube if it's not connected to the fan? The tubes are expensive and it's only slowing down convection if it's not being used.
That fan should be connected to the tube and venting out through the filter.
Until you see one of the 6" fans in person, you don't realize how much air they move - it's a lot more than a PC can ever get close to. They sound like mini jet engines when they start.
I used to work for a famous online mushroom company and we sold kits for growing. The guy who designed them was an idiot and I actually felt sorry selling some of the things they were that bad. They also featured things like randomly positioned fans that did absolutely nothing.
This is one of those things were I'm watching the video and it's entirely wrong. It's making me wonder if I'm the uber retard, or them. I'm fairly sure it's them.
When you're paying quite a lot for a fan, filter and cool tube, you want as much heat off the bulb and gone as possible, which means it has to be sucking air straight over the bulb - which is why they designed cool tubes to begin with.
If you absolutely have to keep everything inside the box, try;
box---[air going this way]----> open side of cool tube ----->lamp----[duct]---> fan --[duct / direct]----> filter --[duct]---> outside
For the filter, most people put them outside the tent - so they don't have an exhaust port, they blow air out all around their sides. You don't want that if it's inside your grow space, it'll get way too hot in a small enclosure. The plants will wilt and get heat stressed and your risking a fire.
You'll want one that's sealed with an exhaust side to it that you can point out the side of the box - inline. If you can't get one, you could try making one by sticking the exhaust end of the filter in some drain pipe, sealing round the top of the filter so it can blow out down the pipe and then exhausting the end of the pipe out the box.
Or if the filter is too big to easily shroud and exhaust it, ditch the premades and pack a length of PVC coming off the fan with activated carbon, then out the side - potentially very messy if you don't know what you're doing.
The same would also work if you could shroud the filter and connect it to the lamp with the air being sucked through the lamp, the filter, the fan and then out.
You'd have to be seriously low on space for it to be worth it. That box is small enough without all that hanging off the top.
I've tried growing in small spaces and it's a pain in the ass. I'm no kingpin but it's not worth the effort or cost for me.

Well, I was using this design to give you guys the "everything inside the cab" image I need. I liked the design in the video because it didn't use much ducting and the ducting it did use was not bent at all (I thought no bends). I would clearly be exhausting with a 6" Soler and Palau fan, not PC fans. The two PC fans I do have, I would place somewhere inside the cab to circulate air somehow. I do know how loud those 6" fans sound. I had the chick at the hydro store plug it in last time I was at the Hydro store and it loud as shit without anything connected.

And I would hate to think that there stealth cabinet companies are selling shit that don't work, but its just adds to the reasons I decided to build my own!
It's a bad layout because it's not making proper use of the cool tube. If you're going to pay for one, you want the air being sucked through it. Putting one on the light and not pulling air through it will actually slow down the rate it cools at because it gets in the way of convection.
Never trust everything you see with the small start mushroom / cannabis companies. While it you may be able to get it to work, they're not all the experts they try to make out they are. The place I was working at, they were basically lying to the customers about things like the strains they were selling. They were all the same (unknown) strain relabeled. The kits were not just something you could probably make yourself (better), the parts were also bought from the local hardware stores at the same prices you'd pay for the parts. This was a big company as well, we had so many customers I can't even put a number on it. The company was not one, but a number of websites that looked like different people. It went as far as our own websites recommending you towards others we owned, making it look as if other independent people were referring you (and so increasing the confidence in the buyer's mind).
If you're building your own, I'd still recommend you duct from the cool tube, through the fan and out through a shrouded filter so the air gets blown out the cabinet. There are so many ways you could do it, it'd take me forever to get through them all. You just want to have the exit side of the filter connected to the air outside and then the intake pulling air from inside. You could create a boxed off part in the roof that the filter goes in. With the fan so close to the lamp, you won't need to worry much about ducting slowing down cooling - a lot of people here are running meters of ducting and the lamp still stays nice and cool.
Again, if you want to get into the mess of building your own filter, you could just have a bend come off the cool tube to the fan behind it, then connect a length of PVC tube packed with carbon that goes out the side of the box.
Having the fan pull air directly through the cool tube will make a much bigger difference to the heat of it than worrying about the type of ducting used on one that doesn't.

Depends on your light wattage and the size of the room / tent / box, but almost certainly no you won't need anything more.
250 cfm will create a perfect draft through a 1x1x2m tent sized space and the air will whistle past your hand when you put it over the cool tube inlet

Homemade Carbon Filters DO NOT WORK. Dont waste your time with them. Im sure they could be made to work for a small grow/veg closet, but you would need to wrap it with $100 worth of the Carbon Pre Filters.
For $90 you can get a PROFESSIONAL Dutch Breeze carbon filter with 13 lbs of Activated Carbon pellets (not the useless pre filters)
If you insist on making carbon filters, people should really use Carbon Pellets, and not the prefilter pads, the prefilter pads are for air purifiers, they just remove dust/dirt/hair not odor.
sorry mate but that just aint true. some ducting, wire screen, and some honeywell carbon filter pads works brilliant for my flowering kushes under a 400 hps.
but yea, prolly not worth it for more than that

found cooltubes on ebay for 35 sterling , yes thats right uk heads , cannabis keeps out of credit crunch ( thank fuck)
even for the fact it keeps the lamp surface clean from mist and moisture and prolongs the life , pluss if it was to break ud hav all the peices in a nice pyrex container rather than scattered all over ur beauties
and if ur just small scale it doesnt make sense not linking ur extractor and filter to it imo
