what the bet air pump for air stones

what air pump should i buy for a four five gallon buckets DWC system do i get one pump for every bucket or should i use two big ones. my air stones are 6in long and theres one in every bucket. or should i buy one big one

some brand info would be cool and how much air should each plant get thanks

If I were doing it I would want 1 pump and atleast 1 airstone per dwc.

What up Olds - You should take midgrade's advice on this one - at LEAST one airstone per bucket. I'd say, even with my limited experience, that one 6" airstone in a 5gal bucket is not nearly enough. And yeah, Petsmart's got a nice selection of airstones, but their pumps seem to be way overpriced. I was going to buy my airpump there, but ended up finding it quite a bit cheaper at good old walmart. I'm using a "Whisper" air pump - by Tetra, I think - rated for 30-60 gallons, with dual outlets, in a 6-8 gallon res. My plants seem to love it, and it was pretty cheap. I have to admit, I have no experience with other air pumps, but in case it's relevant, this one definitely does NOT whisper! Depending on how close together your buckets are, and if money/space/electrical outlets are an issue, you could buy 2 decent powered ones with multiple outlets, and split them off. Not sure what would be more of a hassle: having 5 separate small pumps, or 2 larger ones with a tangle of airhose and splitters, etc.... I'd wait to hear from someone experienced, and familiar with your type of setup. Good luck man, Peace

thanks guys to bad they dont make a airstone in the shape of a ring that would be good i have some 8in airstons but i thought the 6 would be good and i hop i can get two big pumps im running out of plug outlets yha do you guys know if your supposed to have the pump on all the time or on a timer i think its supposed to be on all the time but im not share

They do make flexible air stones that you can shape into a ring....

Yeah Petsmart was just an example for you.
There are a plethora of options out there.

I go for cheap and convenient.

This air stone is not a ring. But is round. It is nice, and put out a ton of bubbles if you have a strong enough pump. Check it out...

well i went to the hydro store today to get the DD air pump by GH and they said that they would have to order it and it would cost me like 179$ so thats a bit much right now im not going to buy it from them i will go down to vancouver and get it there it will be cheaper i dont buy hydroponice stuff of the web its two risky i live in a small town and the post office are nosey people and if they see that its hydro stuff then im fucked so i what

If you have a Walmart where you live, go there, and buy one of the biggiest ones they have, or maybe even two. they are cheap there. I got one there that is rated for a 60 gallon tank. I use it in my 35 gallon rez for my floud and drain system. A pet Shop is a good place also, but cost more then wally world.

that where i went to they were like 32 bucks so i got two and there really quiet i think down the road i will ge the GH pump its for hydro so it must be better then a fish tank

im a little worryed about the pump making the air to hot and i dont want to have to buy i air cooler

cool haha do you get cool !!! now i dont have to worry its right beside my intake cool hay have you guys ever use and air cooler for or room its like a radeator for a car but with cool water runing throw it im going to make one for my room it gets to hot in the day time when the lights are off well i hop it works

I went to lowes and bought a 5,050 BTU Air Conditioner for my grow room for $90. My room is 4'X12' and it keeps it plenty cool. without it, my room would be like 95F++++. this thing works great. the hot air that is taken out of my grow room is put into the rest of my home, and my big A/C unit in my home removes it from my house. this way I did not have to cut any holes in my walls or anything. Also the AC unit has not dripped one drop of water since I started it 3 weeks ago. Even though it has not dripped water at all, I still have a cake pan under it. Here is a picture of my AC unit.. I love this thing. uses only 6 Amps. I can keep my room as low as 62F, but i have been keeping my grow room at 75f. Lot better then the 85-95f temps my last grow.

what you are talking about is called a swamp cooler. And they cool the air pretty good. but they put a ton of humidity into the air. This is exactly why I did not get one. I got a Air Conditioner unit. they do not put humidity into the air. They actually remove Moisture from the air if anything.
