Diesel Ryder 400 grow

Looks good mate, I'm excited to see the fruits of your labour and love, the buds look really well structured, should be good smoke. Got an idea when you'll pull the others? You giveing them a 48/72 dark period before you're pulling them? I cant wait to see the bigger ones come down (as anti nature as that sounds). Good luck with the final stretch my brother, give the dark period a try, the plants go nuts. Happy growing

does this really work? does it just accelerate the rate of trichome maturation, or what?

Buds look sweet mate :)

I give the plants 72 hours of darkness before I harvest them, gives them one last push for the nutrients and I think it adds some bed density. I've yet to try it side-by-side with a harvest without, but I've done both and I like the results with the darkness, try it, you may like it :blsmoke:

thanks dudes...i was gonna give em 24 hrs of darkness but now you've inspired me to go more, maybe 72..i've never tried this, but i'm down for anything and it can't hurt...
the big ladies are sooo much more pretty than the runt that came down, it's gonna be a beautiful harvest! out

oh yeah, KC, do you give them the darkness when the trichomes are where you like em, or time it before?? do they turn in the dark or only when light is on em?? thanks buddy

Locked-in, can't wait. Your nuggets will be dense after 72 hours of darkness. Good luck mate, I'll be glued until your next update ... cough ... hopefully with pictures ... cough ...

When the trichomes are to my liking I shut all the lights down, the trichomes don't seem to change all that much, I wish I had a microscopic camera to give an example, but not yet :(. Happy harvesting :weed:

cheers mate!

definitely gonna give 'em 48 hours of darkness prior to choppin'.

As I understand, trichomes are produced and developed in the dark as a reaction (defense mechanism?) to the light; especially UVB.

I could be terribly, terribly wrong though :)

Truth :blsmoke:, just not as rapidly as during photosynthetic periods of light. Class dismissed, haha

Also does lowering the temp during this 48-72 hour dark period help?

Since the plants think it's the end of the line for them with the final extended dark period, would a lower temperature (signaling deadly winter) also help?

Absolutely sir, as in nature, the lower temperatures are beneficial. However, I would not suggest anything under 60 degrees, you'll notice negative recourse

Allright so I had some questions. This photo https://www.rollitup.org/attachment...1236130007-diesel-ryder-400-grow-p1030847.jpg The intra-node spacing seems pretty large(the distance between buds on the stem) as if these were "reaching" due to lack of light. The auto strains I have played with seemed to have tighter spaced buds, however the differance could simply be growing conditions. Could you do your best to discribe yours including lumens per sqft and how many days from germination untill harvest, did you harvest it a bit early? About how much yield per plant?

Was the ryder version as dank and robust smelling as the orignal NYCD?
