Under A Cabin In The Woods of AK - AUH#2, White Rhino, Carolina, and MTU.

So I thought I would chat a bit about Fall Time.

I don’t know what all you folks enjoy fall time the most for other than the obvious, but for us it is the season of harvesting food for the freezer. We spend this time of year gathering wild berries, mushrooms, veggies, root tubers, etc. As well, we hunt several species of game. Moose would have to be the favorite. Caribou and bear are next on the list. Sheep if there is an opportunity, and then ducks and geese. Spruce Grouse and Willow Ptarmigan, and beaver rate high. Squirrel, and rabbit too. We are looking forward to moose season however due to it being just around the corner. Fall season is the relaxed hunt where there is opportunity for hunting trophy game as opposed to just meat hunting. There is the need for meat don’t get me wrong, however if there were problems with taking a moose during that season, there is another hunt that happens during the winter. The fall hunt is when the moose are close to breading and thus respond to calling and luring behavior which makes for exciting hunts as well as numerous chances and encounters while looking for the big bull. Last year, we called in 6 bulls before taking one. At one point, we had three bulls at less then 50 yards from us all responding to a call that replicates a female moose ready to breed. It really raises the hairs on the back of your neck when you see three fight ready moose running in from different directions, trying to be the first to breed with you!
The encounter was worth the experience alone, but the end result was even better! The largest of the bulls was a monster that I couldn’t help but want to make a table out of. The antlers were dark, huge and perfect. I needed a table. The meat was going to be tough and hard to get out of the woods, but filling two freezers at once is hard to pass up! Even better, the meat was not bad at all. Not the most tender, but not what I expected. The Rack, Better than expected! My wife and I had wanted to make a table out of moose antlers for years and years. This was the perfect one. All I need now is another single side almost as large or large and the table will be complete. This season I hope to do just that. If I do, I will post pictures of the table and see how you folks like it. Nothing like a moose antler table. And if I don’t, Ill make a shit load of pipes from the antlers I do get and send them all to you folks who would like a moose antler pipe.

Awesome pics. it's a small world

I cooked up some of that cod last week, and you're right, it is better than fried halibut. I like halibut on the grill

If I was younger I'd love to work those boats, but then after one season I'd hate it lol

Looking forward to seeing the new grow.

Cooking Halibut on the Grill Right Now!:-D

Howdy Capt.

Pleasure to meet ya, beautiful fish I must say! Wonderful looking Moms you have there. I like the shot where you see organic soil with perlite, and coco right next to it. Seems there is a degree of quality in health that the coco grown plant is showing that the soil grown is not. I think I will be running an entire coco grow next with Jacks Cleaner, and Carolina X MTU. Time to condition new soil and I want to experiment a bit with the new strain. (Carolina Blues = Carolina X MTU) Sour Diesel is a personal favorite of mine as well!
I have many hybrids of Northern lights as well. GREAT CHOICE! I sure would like to see that grown out doors. I have a theory about Northern Lights that I think would be reflected in an a nice out door grow in a location such as your own. Have you experimented much out doors?

We do enjoy the tropics as well. Have spent vacation time only though. Would love to get down there for a few months. Maybe when we retire from retirement Ill head down that way and try an outdoor grow while on an extended vacation.

Glad to have ya, stay tuned and let us know how your set up works out. Keep a line wet for me!

Scribed (and finally found someone who clearly knows what a scrog is all about). Very nicely done.

Well thank you there Butters,

Nice to have you aboard. Yeah it started back in the days when we were trying to keep large sativas low in tall grass by growing them under 4' x 6' sheets of pine lattice painted camo. We would even go as far as to using the surrounding grasses leaves and such as our pattern. If anyone has never done that and would like to learn, let me know Ill give you neat tips to camouflaging to the local environment.
It became clear quite quickly that our method of keeping them low was actually creating a much larger harvest of quality structured buds. The problem was that the screen (once full) created a perfect shape in the vegetation that was noticeable from the air. That is when we truly came up with the idea of shaping the screen to conceal its identity. We would do shapes that were irregular such as the individual colors patterned on an older military uniform. Then by mixing the strains under one screen, it would blend the colors enough to be covert. This, long before medicinal purpose legality, was our "SCROG"...

Angain, Glad to have ya!

just tell me when .. there's always an empty house needing a sitter for 6 mo out of the year
never grew out doors, between the bugs the size of a small cat and the wild literally at your back door...(jungle) don't know it would survive with out much attention

Been growing in the "WILD" for years and years. We have pest too, size of moose.... It’s the bugs that are easy to rid, harder to slow down a 1300 lb pest....

But it can all be done. Not everyone has the opportunity to take an advantage of there environment I agree, however if ever allotted the time, I would strongly suggest giving it a go! I have seen some amazing things come from the jungle my friend! I have taught the art of cannabis cultivation to friends in corners of the globe most have never heard of. I have personally seen cannabis plants grown in the sands of Nigeria to cracks in the pavement of Iraq. I have seen Indica's growing out doors in milk cartons above the arctic circle, to auto flowering plants growing in half a coconut shell off the side of a rock ledge in St. Martin. Cannabis is simply amazing and can manipulated to suit any situation imaginable. I have even had a guy come to me about growing onboard a shipping vessel, which is now growing more and faster than I do at home. Just food for thought.

Well pal, I sure wouldnt pass up six weeks of proving my point. If you could, give me a random coordinate near you, I will do some research on what would need to be done for growing outdoors in the area. (if interested)

being from NC I would kill to have some beans from that MTU x Carolina. One can only dream... :hump:

awesome grow man, those Carolinas look fucking tasty! :weed:

So I would like to see five seeds make there way into five different gardens, grown 5 different ways, in 5 totally different locations across the globe.

I want to see the results of course so you gotta convince me that the grow is going to be thoroughly documented with photos. I can’t guarantee germination of course (if you read through the journal you know why) so I will keep some on reserve for replacements. These are fem seeds so you will only get one. One shot at it. Replacements will go to another gardener if the grow is not documented.

Research is the name of the game here folks! The more info you can provide about the results of your technique the better. Photos are gold.

3 Days after the Flood.:o

Comming back I would say...

Well, as you already know I am legally allowed to grow in my neck of the woods, however stealth is always a good idea.

Though they are few and far between, thiefs happen. The last thing I would want, is for someone to be strolling by and be given a good reason to become a thief such as the fresh smell of cannabis. I also like to keep things discreet as for not all our guests are cannabis users, and if the plants location is obvious its becomes to much temptation for my own comfort. Thus.....

I have designed a stealth and negative pressure area for my garden. This is not accessible from the main area of the basement or house, nor is it obvious that it is even there. The design truly hides itself.
As for negative pressure, if your not familiar with the term: (a negative pressure room will have no air escape other than that which leaves via exhaust. ) There should be a vacuum effect that pulls air from the outside in; This allows me to control the odor much more effectively.

I wont be showing the entrance of course, but here you can see where the negative pressure is created with vapor barrier.
