Hey everyone, I'm about to start my grow journal with my very first DIY Bubbleponics grow. I have 3 lowryder#2 seeds and 1 California Hash Plant seed (freebie and prob gonna suck), and of those seeds, two are already germinated. I have to act fast and I have all the materials neccessary including my lighting, but i have one problem. I have the irrigation hub, the water pump (submersible), and clear tubing. How in the hell do I connect the irigation hub to the pump and then to the net pots? I know it sounds like a whack ass question, and maybe it is, but I just cant seem to find out how to get the system actually working.

Please help!
Hey Falstaf - I remember drinking Falstaff beer.

I specifically ordered Cali Hash. Here are some pics of my two girls. These pics were at 42 days from sprouting - 4th day of flowering.

Good luck

Yea, after you mentioned it I went looking and I'll be darn if I didn't find what you described. They make it in all sorts of shapes.

Here's a link with some info and a video of the guy selling it.

And here's a link for the product you show in the picture.

Next time I ordered from them I'm gonna pick me up some for experimentation purposes if nothing else. I've gotten a lot of my gear from them.

Good find! It should work! Always looking for something more stable cause Lord knows I'm not! LOL!

Right on. The other stuff they have looks pretty awesome too, but I am kinda curious to see how much everything they have would run. It does look like it would be a hassle free plug and play system that works. The extra price might also be worth the time you spend doing other prep work alone. I dunno, I'll have to check it out and see what I can find out for myself. I am lazy and want to watch my girls grow to be big and strong either way, and this might be the ticket.

Dystopia, what about the passive intake at the bottom of the tent? if I opened up that with another portal as well would that be enough? I'm really trying to get the ventilation thing down as far as setup is concerned, if I knew how I would probably just get the 400W HPS and yield more, especially if I have to add fans to the setup, could anyone tell me how to hook up ventilation for a 2x4x6.5' and a 4x4x7' tent?
OK, I’m no expert on ventilation so hopefully somebody will correct me if I’m wrong.

In my opinion, you use ventilation for four things:

1. To cool the tent and/or light – in your case, even CFL’s put out some heat, and a grow tent is insulated and reflective so heat may build up. You may or may not need to vent to control heat, just depends on how hot the tent gets after 18 or so hours of running the lights.

2. To refresh CO2 – the requirement for CO2 increases as the plants grow, and it is especially crucial during flowering. Necessary to vent using a fan for this in my opinion unless you are supplementing with CO2 (in which case you wouldn’t normally vent the tent at all).

3. To lower humidity – humidity might not be a problem when the plants are young, but as the plants get older they will transpire more water and become more crowded. Low humidity during flowering (<30%) is important for dank buds, and it also significantly lowers the risk of mold and fungus. Again, I believe it is necessary to vent with a fan to help control humidity unless you are using a dehumidifier.

4. For odor control. During my first grow my daughter walked in the house and said “Fuck, dad, I didn’t know you smoked weed…take it outside, the house reeks.” And I was only growing 4 plants which were 6” high at the time in a closet upstairs. If you want any kind of stealth odor control is necessary. The typical setup usually has the filter connected to the exhaust fan. There are other ways, though, like an ozone generator; I use this: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/18321-videos-cheap-odor-contol.html#post184320 ; works really well.

As far as venting a tent with HID, there are two typical scenarios. In scenario one you might vent the light and tent together, like so:

In scenario two (better) you isolate the light from the tent and vent the tent separately:

As far as accurately sizing the fans, that’s a whole different ball of wax and depends on many factors: bulb wattage, inlet temperature, what you want the tent temperature to be, length of ducting and severity of turns, climate you live in, etc.

tehnick,

I had the same reaction to the price but those starter plugs should give you an idea if they work and they're cheap.

I have some outside plants that i took a couple top buds off
to dry its been about one day drying in a closet, and for some reason
the buds are smelling like fresh cut grass or hay does anyone know what causes that?

It changes to smell like pot but will still smell a little green. Drying is the first part and curing ( in mason jars) brings out the best she has to offer.

Heres some discusion questions for the gang. What are the different stages of flowering? I know you start out with all the white pistols but what can you expect to see happen next? Like many of you im a new grower looking for a peak into the flowering process.

After about week four the pistols will start to turn colors ( different strains color up differently - some brown, some orange, some pink, etc.). Then the trichs develop more as you reach harvest time and can be viewed for "doneness" using a pocket microscope.
