do air purifiers eliminate smell???

Ok I have been loking for a odor controlling solution... I dont want to spend alot on carbon filters with the c02 and shit that cost well over a hundred dollars what my question is to you is will a regular carbon air filter work ie: the one that looks like sheet of blackish greyish carpet kinda sorda. I been checking them out and and you can get a roll of that stuff for about 10 bucks and it says it eliminates all the odors and unwanted smells. Anyone out there want to put in their own 2 cents? thanks

Yeah I would think a purifier would help to a degree, but it would have to be a damn good one.

MyPhilosophy, I like how you transferred your thread to this one, pretty creative.

I wasnt getting any love from anyone else so i thought i would post it here bc it was relavent to the topic dont ya think so?

Yes it would be relevant but I would also like to ad that patience is a virtue when it comes to growing and forums, you can't expect people to answer your questions like right now, sometimes it takes a day or so, be patient and give it at least 24 hours.

ok but wat if u leave the closet door close...have that going in there ...think it would absorb most of the smell before it gets out the door? esp if i rig my growbox to the exhaust of the purifier?

i use the cheap $10 dollar carbon filters from home depot and they eliminate the odor just fine.
I usually use two sheets, just make sure that your supply/exhuast is strong enough to push the air. the carbon filters will constrict airflow.

They sure do. My room was beginning to stink big time a couple of weeks ago. Once I attached a carbon filter to it the smell disappeared.

The room still has a musty humid smell to it, but at least the obvious giveaway scent is gone

it doesn't have to be any special fan just highenough cfm (cubic feet per minute) to move the air thru the filter. VV

Thats what im talking about their buddy. Thats what I needed to know i knew that the label had said that it would eliminate the odor but i wasnt too sure i wanted to hear it from the champ himself. I didnt want to buy the material and then be like oh man this sux i just wasted some money on this usless piece of poo. Well knowing this now it will save me mucho money bc i didnt want to buy a c02 can filter thing that was alot of money. I already have a nice compact fan (im talking state of the art small) that will clear a 100'x100' room out in 2 minutes so thats a reliever for me. Also those dark room vents can you place a sheet of that carbon air filter in that some how?

Cool thanks for the info Victor, I'll have to check that shit out myself the next time I'm in town.
