I like 4 weeks veg but it depends on the strain. Remember the plants could double or triple in height when they finish. Most of the the vertical growth will hapen in the fist 3 weeks. Are the leaves alternating (not straight across from each other)? That's the surest sign I know that would tell you the plant is mature.

no not yet still growing symreticla so u say 4week of veg so if on day 23 now 3weeks n 2days does that mean i got 1 more week to go or 4 more just

One week more would be my guess. The longer you veg, the bigger the plant will get the more bud it can support. Do you have any height restrictions?

Guys..

First of all i wanna say a big massive thank u to Roseman and Mostlycrazy..these guys take soo much of their time to sort out our questions..thats to be admired! Since signing on to this forum a few weeks back i was gonna buy a complete ebb n flow system, then i was gonna make a DWC...now im 4 defs gonna try bubbleponics (with thanks to the almighty Roseman and his tutorials) I wont be able to make a start for about another month, i was layed off in work a month or so ago so cash flow is tight at the moment. I had a pretty good understanding of whats need to grow but reading endless threads has really educated me...i really cant wait to make a start!

Bubbleheads rock...each and everyone of use!!!

Thank you kind sir! Sorry to hear about the employment situation but things will work out. I learned all the basics with he BP system. They I tried Hempy ( perlite and vermiculite in a 10 gallon planter) with limited success ( still got 4oz from 2 plants which is not bad). I'm currently working on an ebb and flow fence post set up. Once you learn the possibilites are endless with this weed. Personally it is in helping others that I am helped. They told me that would happen in church but I now have a concrete example that it is true.

also - once the roots reach the water is there still any benefit to continue running the water pump?
Absolutely. It adds oxygen to the water and your plants will grow faster & healthier. After the roots are on the bottom of the tank, I remove just the tubes going to each cup and continue to run the pump 24/7 throughout the entire grow.

when i got home my air pump was not all the way on i gave my babies an air bath yesterday
What is an "air bath"? That's amazing. I have never heard of that before. One of the things to need to remember is that if you want to try something new....don't. Why would you want to do that since you have a fan blowing over the tops 24/7....right.

HGH,

Air bath as in leaving the roots exposed to the air for 15 minutes or so in between drain and fill on a res change. Rose does it almost every change and so do I. I just take my time after I drain to check my ppm and ph of my new batch of nutes, clean up the area a little bit, talk to the plants, burn a bowl with them, tell them what good girls they are, etc. LOL!

Hi all, I was gonna come on here and ask about a hydro set I saw on craigslist but a setup like this would be immensely cheaper, I'm just looking to do like 1 plant in a closet... It looks like my Home Depot sells the Ryobi water pump according to the website, although I dont see the irrigation hub thing Home Depot and it looks like Lowes doesn't sell the Mister Landscaper anymore (tried every city I could find on the website), does anyone have an updated part number for lowes or home depot?

I was also wondering what light I should get for just a 1 plant small stealthy grow? I found this on my local craigslist:
1000w hortilux bulb
1000w ballast
6" cooltube reflector
6" ducting w/ booster fan
tension hangers (yo-yo hangers) for easy height adjustment
works great, used for a very short time, extremely cheap deal at $250 cash only or trade for electronics or musical equipment.

I also found this:
250 watt HPS light with new hydrolux bulb, tempered glass lens and some extra bulbs, 160$ it must need a ballast though? The guy never responded to my email but the 1000w guy did, for a pretty small grow that'd probably be overkill and put off a lot of heat?

I also haven't figured out odor control either, I was thinking maybe I could build a wood box that would fit in my closet and then I could drill holes in either side for air in and air out with some kind of filter on the air out?

So how do you go about changing out the water if you're using lets say, a 10 gallon tote box? Do you have to do it at a certain time? or do you just turn off the pumps, take the top off, empty the water and fill it back up?

Mercury187,

If you want to grow just one plant in a small space I would suggest a 5 gal bucket.

Check out this thread for more info.

For one plant a 1000w is way overkill and the 250 is probably not needed either. for steath and as a first time grower I think CFL's are the way to go. Now heat issues on top of the nute and ph problems you will have as you learn but you can get all the help you need here.

GHE,

You hove two choices. Either drill a hole in the res and install a drain of some time or use the installed pump to pump the water out of the tote with a 1/2" hose. Most usually change their res every 7-10 days.
