3x1000 or 4x600

Would 4 600 watt hps lights out produce 3 1000 watt hps? What would produce less heat?

have you looked into light movers?????That's my next project,I'm gonna double my plants by simply moving the light back and forth, so no extra light(s) which = less heat


600's are more efficient

Not trying to push light movers on you by any means..... but they are not so expensive (bout $200) and cover double the area without the extra heat of extra lights,if set up properly you can hook 2 lights and cover the area of 4(with the right ligh mover).......that is my plan,not only will i save energy (running extra lights + a\c to lower heat),it won't cost nowhere near as much as buying extra ballast+lights+air-cooled hood+possibly extra inline fan(s),and mainly heat, it is very hot in summer in my area so a light mover is the ideal solution for me....

I do appreciate the input, and eventually I plan on having light movers, co2, and possibly hydro. I'm just trying to decide between the 1000's and 600's for now.

sorry... but that info is just wrong. light movers do not cover double area effectively. on the contrary. people use light movers for EVEN coverage and maybe a couple of extra feet of light. the advantages of light movers is that all plants grow the same height and you can keep the light a little bit closer since heat isn't as much of an issue, and that they can effectively penetrate deeper into the canopy since there are many different angles of penetration

but if you try to use a light mover with a 1000w light in a 4x8 area you will be disappointed. you could maybe do a 4x6. remember that when the light is over one area then it isn't over another area.

if adding a light mover doubled the effectiveness of your lights then everyone would be using them.

I highly recommend light movers also. I use an LR5 for flowering with 2 1000's, and an LR3 with a 600 for intermediate veg. I've had great results over many years using them.

Maybe the buds won't be as dense but believe me with the double up on plants the weight will be there.Have you yourself done a comparison,I am just curious..............??............. I will be soon enough just waiting on my light mover.
