Need help with Digital Ballast!!!

Hello Guys, I am trying to decide if i should buy a 250w or 400w Lumatek Digital Ballast? My main concern is,will it burn that much more electricity? Im not trying to have the biggest harvest,just something for personal smoke:blsmoke: Got enough room for about 8 plants!!!:eyesmoke:
 
as for using electricity the 250 will draw 2.5 to 3 amps, the 400 will pull 4 to 4.5 amps, by comparrison lets say an average microwave pulls 11 amps an LCD TV pulls 2 or 3
your concern with either should be heat and coverage 3ft x 3 ft for the 250, 4 ft x 4 ft for the 400
8 plants sounds like a 400 depending on how you plan to train them?
 
I'd go with the 400.

I have a lumatek 600 in a 4'x3.5' space and it is bright as hell, and hot. I'd invest in an air cooled hood as well.

Thanks guys, guess i'll be going with the 400w! My box is 4'w x 3'd x 6'h and am planing on using the 4" Can Fan. Do you think thats good enough?

400w is ideal and more than enough for that grow space.
dont listen to the fool suggesting a 1000w for that space.
get some more oscillating fans and an extractror fan set up.
a big 16" for the room and a small 4" fan blowing on to your bulb to keep things cool.

A friend of mine just gave sold me his hydrofarm hood(Radiant 6AC) with the air vent in the hood to hook up the ducting to...he just purchased a new Radiant 8AC,but kept the ballast! Yes i will get the 16" oscillating fan. Do you still recommend the extractor fan due to the type of hood i am using? Greatly appreciate the advice!

an extraction system is essential for optimum growing environments.
and yes you will definatelly need one.
