im going to be flowering my small closet grow in the next couple of weeks and i was wondering if i should turn the lights off for 12 hours then put in my 3500k flowering cfls or if i should switch the lights right after the last 6 hour dark time and have then on for 12 hours before they go off for 12 hours? or would it really even make a difference?

Not much difference. I would switch them during the last long light period, then after 12 hrs dark when they come on they are correct.

I've read that some people put the plant in total darkness for 24 or 36 hours before flowering... they say it speeds up the flip... just a thought.

i've heard that people give there plants 24 hours of darkness AFTER they are done flowering. Don't remember why - or what it does. But something to look into. Not sure if it was 24 hours or 36 either.... haha not very helpful i know.

**EDIT**

ya - here's another forum talking about what i was talking about. and it talks about what you were talking about. basically doing it before the flowering period doesn't do anything besides stress them and make them stretch.
**BUT if you give it 24 to 36 hours of darkness before HARVEST - it's known to be more potent (or atleast A LOT of people are experiencing that).

Check out this forum to read up on it if you would like to:

ya i kinda figured it would just stretch them... i ended up leaving the lights on for 18 hours the last day of veg then that night leaving them off for 12 hours and in the morning before i turned the lights on i swapped out the bulbs for the 3500k
