I put some beans I had in an air sealed container, that was placed in the dark, and then forgot about them for a year and a half, and then germed them, and 7/10 germed. Now, I'm not sure if I'm really lucky, but as long as they're not exposed to sun light and moisture, they should be fine.

Normally a year or two is about it, you get less and less viable seeds as time goes on. However people have found seeds in dad's old vietnam uniforms and germed them and gotten lucky.

Under the right conditions anything is possible, just don't count on it.

I've seen a thread here about a 40yo seed that grew.
I've seen a news article about a super old seen like 500yo seed growing

as long as the seed doesn't rot it should grow

I've had bag seed in storage for over 5 years and had no problems germing and growing them. Just make sure they aren't in a humid climate, moisture is they're enemy.

keep them in their original packaging, and keep them in the refridgerator
