In my part of the world, London to be precise. We use alot of slang, normally containing two or three words to mean one.

ex. apples & pairs = stairs or cherry hog = dog

this slang goes back hundreds of years, and is still used today. Its a traditional way of talking in London.
bees & honey = money.
when I would talk to someone and use slang we would normally just cut it down to one word
example: 'have you got my bees'

I'm canning town and you don't really hear these sayings much at all, it's usually people not from the area using the slang.

I'm from south east London.
reddies, dough, wonga, bunsen are more of a modern saying, even though I'm young myself.
tradition has it a true cockney has to be born within the sound of the bow bells.
as far as bees & honey go, no I wouldn't say that, I'm just giving examples to what some are.
