Crazy high energy bill

We have a 600w and we replaced all his normal lighting bulbs in the house with CFLs and his bill for the month was less then 60 bucks.
 
You said you're running a 400W light in a 600W system, this is retarded first of all,
you need a 600W light, who knows that that is doing.

Second, haven't you looked on your energy bill? How many Kilowat Hours have you used?

How much do you pay per Kilowat Hour?

I run 2 600's and plenty of bells and whistles and my bill is 130 monthly.....

If you're running a 400watt light that should only bump your bill by maybe 10-20 bucks a
month, unlesss you're running like a 1000 Watt airconditioner to cool it....

Shitty. My bill is redonk high (400kwh) because i have a 8000btu portable a.c. running 12 hours a day to keep temps in check for my 600.

But even in the high use expensive rate zones i never go over $120.

yea 1000watts at .09 cents a Kw is bout 32 a month with 12/12 so i would check and see .........do you have electric heat?? is it very cold or hot there?
 
Original poster must live in california. Tiered electric billing has made things very expensive. Suck it up or move.

Maybe running that 400 bulb in that 600 watt ballast is doing something?

If its a digital ballast maybe its conflicting?
 
somethings wrong..call ur electric company and ask y its so high..i run a 400 and it goes up 30bucks a month sooo their jacking u or u run ur heater all day long..most heaters are around 1000watts

That may put up a red flag, and they will insist on doing an inspection.
 
Check your fridge(does it every shut off),Do you have a flatscreen some are prower robbers,do you leave your computer on all the time. Are your lights on 115v or 220v. Also unplug cell phone and other chargers when not in use. Put Everything you can on power strips and shut off when not in use. If you can shut the power off to your breaker box , loosen and retighten all the wires going into the breakers and down the ground bridge. If there any loose or corroded they "leak" power. If you check/do all this and its still high to your gettin robbed.
 
(California) Tiered electric is a MF. I was running 1000w last month and my bill was $430. This month, I've bumped it up to 2000w and I expect my bill to be above $700. At the end of this month I'm cancelling my electric and putting it in a friend's name. He can qualify for the CARE program so I'll get off the tiered pricing. That will reduce my bill by about 80%.
 
run 2 6oo aswell 1 magnetic and 1 digtal plus tons of other shit and my bill went up by $120 per month. Something is deff sucking up your juice. Also some Apt buildings split usage bills evenly among tenants. Your getting the shaft somewhere. I would def get the right bulb in there too before you have a fire on your hands from over loading the 400 bulb.

OP, dont feel bad, my bill last month was $250 at best....this month it is $530, and nothing had changed in my house for the exception of my 150w HPS i JUST got 4 days ago. Electric companies blow.
 
need to get some conservatives up there in the cali government

the libs made cali cool but whats the point if they destroy the state

i bet many companies will move out due to these elecric rates

if obama had his way he would pass cap and trade which would even double your rates from what they are now

why are you running them 24 hours a day? and are you doing clones or seeds? if your doing seeds and running ur lights 24/7 your chances of getting males is higher than getting females. try 18/6 for a month and see if it goes down. also are these lights 220v or 120v? that could be the factor if your using 120v
