SOme confusion; gender related

Ok so Ive got about 7 plants that have been in the veg stage for a few month's waiting to identify the sex. Just to refresh I read up just now and saw you have to put them in the flowering stage to tell the gender. Well my plan was to keep a couple few of these in perpetual veg for mothers. So how is this possible if it is neccesary to take them to the flower stage in order to weed out the males?

It is necessary to put em into 12/12 to figure out the sex. About 2 weeks after you'll notice the hairs or the balls..

Good luck man :)

Thanks, But how do I get a good mother plant then? Take clones off the flowering plants?
jus take a clone off the plants and let the clones root. as soon as the clones root put them in 12/12 and wen they show sex u can kill the males. that way u dont have to put the whole plant in flower and keep a mother

They will show sex when they are that small?? Hmm interesting.

put them on 16\8 light and they will show sex faster than 24\0.
they show their preflowers when reaching maturity in veg as well. the shorter the dark period the longer it takes.

Also, you could put them to 12\12 and take clones from the females in the first 3 weeks to grow into mothers.
on after a week when they show sex you can put them back into veg.

They will show preflowers at about 4 weeks(assuming that they are growing well) of veg, without any lighting changes, and the males can be seperated then. No need to switch lighting, just give us some pics of those upper internodes when they are old enough, and we'll help ya out, with 100% accuracy. :)

Ok took me a while but here are some pics. They could probably better but the lighting is mad in their grow area and macro isn't all that great on my camera. As I said they have been in veg for at least 3-4 months. Thanks for the help.

Pics 4 and 7 are definite males. 1, 5, and 6 are definite females. 2 and 3 look to be females, but I'd need a few more pics of them to be certain. Cool, look's like the odds are in your favor.

Thanks. Ill try to get a couple more pics. So your certain those are male? I'll have to take care of em tomorrow.

SSLW, thanks, I actually didn't see the humor in it until after I posted and saw what it said.

^Yep, they're males for sure, so go ahead and chop 'em. I was just looking at pics 2 and 3 again, and I'm 99.9% sure those are females. Some clearer pics of a little different angles, will clear it up for sure. That's a really good male to female ratio. Congrats.

Ok here are some more pics, first two are of #2 and second two are of #3. Again, wish I could take better pics.
Also can I ask how you came to that conclusion? Thanks.

Congrats, they're both females. Plant #3 is alot easier to see, but in the first pic towards the bottom(slightly to the right), I can see a definite female preflower on plant #2. Sweet.

Wow, no kidding! Ok now on to the next step, gotta figure out if I wanna flower some of these or just clone em all and start a bigger batch. Regardless, thanks a lot man!
rep for you.

Here's a better idea.....take a couple clones from each one, then throw all the mothers into bloom. Then you'll have some smoke coming soon, plus a new generation on it's way.

not sure about the second but the third seems to me like a male.
post some close-ups of the nodes for futher identification.

once you see a few males and a few females its pretty easy to know which is which.
females have slimmer pods with 2 hairs popping out of them.
males have bulbs that grows in clusters without the white hairs.
