Warning about Autoflower (photoperiod sensitive)

I started a few autoflower AK47 at 18 hours of light for about 3 weeks just to jump start them before I put them outside. After putting them outside with a sunshine time of under 12 hours they did start to flower even though they were only about 6" tall. I wish some warning would have been on the Attitude site mentioning that light can still trigger them because now I'm out $90. Whelp, hope this saves someone.

hey man... They weren't triggered by the light... They were triggered by their age... They automatically flower at a specific point in their life, hence the term "autoflower".

did you do any reading on them before you purchased?

and you aren't out the money... They should make some nice smoke.

yea, I read. How do you KNOW it was because of age and not the photoperiod??? This was 3 weeks from seed and perfect growing environment (anymore light and I probably would have burned them). Not much of a plant if this is all they do and certainly not worth the $90 I shelled out for 5 beans.

they automatically flower at around 19-21 days.

what did you think they were going to do? This is the ENTIRE point of an autoflowering strain.

light has NOTHING to do with when they flower. Although I HAVE heard of some cases where the plant had a hard time going into flower under 24hrs of constant light.

Whait so you are warning people that an Auto-flower, autoflowered? Thanks for the warning that it does what it is supposed to do and next time you should read before spending your money I guess.

My main problem with this plant is how small it is. I've seen the pics of them being over 20" and bushy. I grew mine under pretty good conditions and it only made it to 8". Are Autoflowers different and keep growing or does it stop and flower like most plants do when they flower?

I'm not sure about Autoflowering plants but when I put my babies in to flowering at 3 foot they all grew to still be 5-6ft tall. Plants usually keep growing during the flowering stage.

I didn't buy these to put under 24/7 light. I can get better production out of any plant than these indoors by just letting them grow a few more weeks before flowering. What I wanted was a crop that can be harvested multiple times outdoors during the summer but their small size just isn't worth anything to me. I guess they appeal to the 150 watt crowd but certainly not for a serious grower.

I think theyre supposed to "explode" with growth and get alot taller. I dont know how tall most peoples are at flowering. I would think they coulda got a little taller in 3 weeks then 6 inches. But I havent grown autos yet. I think theyll get alot bigger tho still.

if thats the case its going to be a bummer to me as well if my autoflower did the same thing...i know how u feel bro even if it hasnt happened to me. i diddnt read about autoflower just because they send me the wrong seed and i wasnt suppose to order an autoflower. so you guys are saying that in 3 weeks of the plant from seed, if it already start flowering it will still grow? or is it may or may not grow?

Ya, autos are supposed to start at 3 weeks regardless so it was probably just coincidence, but autos need at least 18hrs of light straight through to have a good grow from what I have read so that was your biggest mistake. 5 seeds for $90 is a lil expensive unless feminized but the size issue was probably more your fault for giving them less light then they require. Any plant will flower at 12 hours so you can't expect anything but that to happen if you take em from 24 hrs of light to 12...

oh man, dude...i just grew a plant for 10 weeks in a box under 18/6 and harvested it (autoflower!!!)
Congratulations man!
Why? Autoflowers are intended to be under 24/7 light.
Autoflowers "can" flower under 24/7 lighting, but in my opinion, some sleep definitely does good for them. No need to be a slave driver.

That's kind of what I'm trying to say, only I was a little less to the point.
This is on my top 10 dumbest threads list.
I agree with you completely. thought I would try to help everyone out here that's having difficulties understanding what an autoflower is supposed to do.

all strains of marijuana nearly double, if not triple in size when they flower. Your autoflower is no different. It will grow like a beast from here on out now that it is in flowering. Let her do what she does, you won't be disappointed.

You definitely can plant these at staggered intervals and they will flower based on their age, giving you harvests every so often (determined by your planting intervals.) and like I said, she definitely isn't done growing unless she is somehow stunted... Auto AKs are some of the larger/higher yeilding strains too, so you may have gotten some poor genetics. I have seen some outdoor autoAK grows with 24" plants easy in the journals, in fact, cutman is doing one right now... Check that out.

as for the "serious grower" comment. I'm here helping you understand what you bought before you bash it for no reason other than simply not researching a product before you bought it. And I'm sorry for offending "serious growers" like you who are growing "a few auto AKs"

Yeah, from what I have seen, they do about 50-75% of their growing while they are flowering anyway.

hope I could be of some help. If there's anything you're still unclear about, just ask (nicely). And I'll be happy to oblige.

150watt, you're new at this. Why don't you stop being abusive and commenting on every post like anyone cares what you think?
