EMergency plan, to not get caught

Yeah this is my first grow. I don't even have the place to do it at yet. It will be an apartment most likely. The closet will be my walk in bedroom clothing closet so I'm going to chisel out the bedroom door frame a bit to put a dead bolt in the place of the knob lock. just in case maintanance decides to pay an unexpected visit (which would be against the policies, just as precaution though) Change the deadbolt back to the normal knob when they give me advance notice of inspection. Take it all down, throw the plants away and put my cleaned equipment in duffel bags and lay low. Then start again if that happens.

I don't believe the place does a yearly inspection but if they do I should be ready, if they don't give me notice at least the bedroom door will be locked with a decent deadbolt. An they'll ask for a key, then I'll knock it all down in that case, instead of them seeing the grow. And lastly they only change air
filters when they do make readys for the next occupant. So I think I'll be good.

Any opinions??

sounds alright to me, in fact, maybe even a bit overboard. its surprising that they only change air filters for makereadies. my old apartment (was actually low income housing) they would come in once a year to do it, whether you were new or not. granted though, that was the ONLY time anyone who worked there ever contacted me in the 3 years i was there. management, maintenance, heck even neighbors, all respected privacy in a place like that too much. i never even got a call when my rent was late, i had to go in and find out myself.

i guess once i did get a piece of paper put on my door saying that random inpsections were occurring by the state to ensure that my house was up to code and all that..... and i wasnt even seleced randomly so ya, i think your plan would be legit...

should they ever come in without giving you at least 24 hour warning, contact a lawyer immediately. while they may still be able to evict you for it, they more than likely will not be able to get the criminal charges to stick, as they entered your residence without permission, should make that evidence inadmissable in court. dunno tho, iam no lawyer.

no that does make it inadmissable in court. same as if your door was locked, and a cop kicked it in with no verbal warning or probable cause.(in my state anyways :P)

and actually, with a half ass good lawyer you could probably sue the appartments for breaking the lease.

That may be the law, but it's up to the judge to deem any evidence they find inadmissable. My motion to suppress was denied by the judge and i had a hell of an attorney. Landlord gave no notice before snooping through my place while i was gone, then went and told the cops he found a meth lab (was actually all precursors and glassware for manufacturing ecstasy), then they told him to return later and say that the chemicals "may be leaking." After he did, they went in warrantless "in the interest of public safety," (the lead detective said that the chemicals could leak through my attic floor/kitchen cieling, through the linoleum kitchen floor and subfloor, into the dirt, across the street, and into the public pool nearly 100 yards away "where large groups of children were playing."

I had to risk it at trial, where they could use any and all evidence, facing 15 years.....or plea and take 6 months boot camp, 1.5 years corrections, and 3 months jail time. Forced into a corner...

I've said it a million times...you have no rights.

Damn well I'm not messin with anything like that but damn that sucks.

Yeah I'm not too worried about my situation cuz if I do it right when the maintenance guy comes in without notice all he will find is a unit with a locked bedroom door. I'm going to carbon filter the bedroom closet and use a timed ozone generator to get rid of my smoke and get rid of the plant smell. I also work for the property through a temp agency and the maintanance guy said he wouldn't break the locks when he finds locked up places he just requests a key. That is unless he has a big suspicion.

Another key thing though is that when we do notices that require privacy such as not paying rent on time we must go as a pair to put the notice on the inside of the unit door. But the smell should be taken care of, maybe a dog in the living room too, and he won't even get to take a look at the bedroom door anyways.

Any more opinions? I can't be someone's bitch lol I'm too much of a sensitive nice person to be in prison, I wouldn't last long lol

Definatley agree about the bump proof lock I've learned how to pick n bump cuz I'm a dork like that and it's suprisingly easy to do. But even the schlages I've practiced on are bumpable.

Idk what brand I should get. Schlages are pretty decent and can be bumped.

well that is because you were fucking with chemicals!!!!! You're lucky you got what you got, it's a slap on the wrist for manufacturing. And in all honesty they were in the right. Now growing weed is a different story, especially if you are legal. You do have right's and you can use them, but you have to have common sense as well. Chemicals = bad. Don't act like a paranoid idiot you see on cops when and if anyone is around. Stand your ground, and exercise your housing rights. I recommend looking up your states laws. It can be done easily just searching online.

I live where medical marijuana is not legal yet.

What do y'all say to giving out your state/province/territory is it a bad idea?

i dont personally like to give out that info, but really, i doubt it would have much effect. anyone who REALLY wanted and or needed to know could find out without even asking you imo

that's all you gotta say there ;) i would't say where i was if i wasn't legal either. but to go back to the rental thing. I would look up your states tenant laws so you know what your rights are.

you know, you could make this really simple. And do what the professionals do... Keep your mouth shut about what your doing. :)

Number one way to stay jail free my friend.. is just not to tell anyone about what your doing.

That's how 90% of the people get caught.. is by telling someone about their grow. Rather it be someone you've known for years.. don't even tell that person. I've never let any of my past girlfriends know about my growing.. and never will. But again, to the point.. if you don't open your mouth about what your doing.. people won't know. Unless your obvious about the location where you growing. (examples: in front of your bedroom window; in your front yard; in your back yard; on your roof.. or in your guttering system on your roof) these are all places that are not good locations to grow.. and eventually will be seen by preying eyes.

You know, I mean around my neighborhood (the suburbs)... people are always walking around.. walking their dogs and such. And of course, gawking at other peoples yards.. or landscaping.. or whatever it might be.. so of course.. my grow space is "incognito" so to say. It's out of sight.

But anyhow, as long as your quiet about what your doing.. you'll be just fine.

peace.

i think you've covered your bases. the deadbolt on the closet is a great idea. too many people with grow ops in apartments dont realize there are others who have a key...and while it is illegal to enter without giving prior notice to the occupant of the apartment it does happen...shady landlords etc.

well come to think of it...in the event of an emergency they do not need to give warning...at least here where i live they dont...such as a leaking pipe in your apartment (or most easily located from being in your apartment) that is ruining the building/causing flooding etc.

thats where the lock comes in handy. if they ever just show up randomly you dont have to let them in (if its not an emergency)...and even if they do have to come in you can simply shut off your light (idk what you're using...but some are really bright and would be a dead give-away under the door) and lock your closet and wait it out.

the only issue you may have is smell...the plants wont smell inside your closet during the veg stage...and it wont even smell in the very beginning of the flowering stage...its the mid-late portions of flowering where they just stink beyond anything you could have expected.

i think you'll be fine...and if you get enough notice as to when the inspection would be you can prevent being in the middle of grow when the inspection date arrives.

ganjaluvr is right!

your best bet is to involve as few people as you can on your grow.

the more people that know about your grow will cause nothing but more problems...it makes you a target for home invasions...(yes even if you only grow 1-2 plants because people have big mouth's and exaggerate stories all the time...) so you tell one friend you're just growing 1 plant for yourself (not even to sell) the next thing you know that friend tells a friend you're growing...then that person tells someone you're growing...next thing you know people that you dont even know are aware of your grow and the story will get twisted until its believed you're growing on a commercial scale which leads to those home invasions etc.

that...or...

there the cops...say you do grow some bud (even if just for yourself) but you sell/give a few grams to a "friend" or whoever and say they get busted by the cops (the cops always ask where did you get it) and say they rat you out, "oh i got it from so and so who grew it himself" this will be the end of your grow...and freedom.

the way i go about my grow is simple...besides myself the only people that know NEED to know...like the person im growing with obviously...haha. but no outsiders. the people that know i can count on one hand and they are directly involved. ive told no friends...i havent bragged bout anything...

the only time i discuss my grow is here under discreet terms.

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER tell/let anyone know where your grow is! this is extremely important. if they dont know where it is they cant get to it. so always be discreet...even if it seems a little overboard...going overboard and staying out of jail (or avoiding a home invasion) is a lot better than being careless and having the cops find your brain smeared on the wall during a home invasion gone wrong or hearing a knock at the door at 3am from the boys in blue.
