When do they get thc?

When they hit flowering. THC is a natural insecticide produced by marijuana to protect the flowers.

does this mean if i have a slight bug problem will it ease up now that they are flowering

if only weed cared about getting u high x ) weed is a lazy lazy bitch that needs to be pampered

if she has to lift a finger to fight her own bugs she will get tired and not make very good end product

There is no THC until the plant gets into flowering stage.
It looks like little mushrooms, stems with little round heads on them. But super small and there are so many of them that the buds look like they're rolled in sugar.
Not only does it help protect against predatory insects and animals, but it helps protect the seeds (if there are any) from the sun's harmful UV rays.
My plants are 22 days into flower and already look like they're sugar coated :D

Is it a liquid or solid? Like sap??
THC production begins at flowering. It is produced in their TRICHOMES, which are visible under a 60X scope, (10/12 dollars).
They look like "golf balls on a tee", clear at first, then as she matures, they go milky cloudy, then amber. If you let it go too long, they will turn BLACK, and lose potency FAST! Most insects will avoid the parts of the plant where the trichomes are formed, this will protect the buds, but they will consume any other part that looks yummy to them. Good luck & good grow.......BB

It is sticky resin that is exuded from the pores of the flowers and bud leaves. The term is "capitate-stalked trichomes".
There's a "frostiest buds" thread on here somewhere, find it and you will see lots of pics of buds covered in them. :)

Here's a couple pics of what THC looks like on the buds, these are how mine look 20 days into flower:
