The P-90X Experiment.

Alright, a little background first...

I grew up playing sports. 3 sport varsity athlete in high school. D-1 college scholarship to Colorado State for football. Always more natural talent than hard work. Worked in gyms selling memberships for a couple years. Have grown up with, lived and currently live with elite physical trainers and professional athletes. AM ONE LAZY MOTHER FUCKER.

I played D-1 college football at a weight of 230lbs. Since then, the last 4 years have been filled with beers galore, food galore, and a minimal amount of working out which has caused a weight flux of 40-50 lbs. Im 6'3". My heighest weight was 290 lbs in december of last year. After that, i worked out for a few months straight in gyms doing cardio and having a better diet and my weight dropped to around 245 lbs (almost getting to my goal of being back to my playing weight at 230lbs) before i found a new girl and got lazy again. The last 4 months have been filled with more beer and more food and less exercise meaning my weight has definitely jumped up (cant tell you exactly how much because i dont have a scale, but im probably about 275 lbs right now).

Which brings us to today. I was given the complete P-90X from a family member who didnt use it at all and besides the fact that ive continuously made fun of it everytime its infomercial has come on the screen, ive decided to see what its all about and if it can work and give the results it advertises if used as suggested. My room mate and elite physical trainer (RIU name: Watuptho) will do it with me and will document my daily progress over the next 90 days (starting Monday).

The regimine will consist of a daily P-90X workout, an hour of cardio, and a better diet (calorie control and a diet consisting of healthier foods including more salads, chicken, tuna etc.)

I'll post daily shots of myself topless (i apologize in advance, but its the only way to track progress from day to day and will give a great view into what can actually be accomplished if one does decide to invest in a TV workout DVD set and invest in completing it as suggested) from front and side angles as well as give incite to the workouts and what i felt from them.

This thread definitely isnt for everyone (and definitely not for the target demographic of RIU) but for those lazy, out of shape stoners like me who are interested in diving deeper into the bullshit of what you see on TV, as well as possibly bettering oneself, this will definitely be interesting.

Feel free to ask questions, suggestions, comments, hate, love, whatever. This will be meticulously updated daily (which anyone following my grow journal would know) and should be fun.

Talk it over for the next day, Monday we get going.

Alright man, you know i'm subbed. I've actually just started weight lifting again as well. I used to go to the gym 5 times a week a few years ago, but then I dislocated my shoulder doing barbell presses. Had surgery done and to be frank, have been to scared to hit the gym again. But fuck it, I'm taking it slow, and rebuilding lost muscle. Diet is the first thing though. Once you can get the diet down, hitting the gym is the easy part and the results will show. Good Luck! rep

You know what, I gave the p90x website a look. Gunna have to give it a go as well. Im just getting all the videos off the internet so it wont cost me anything. All I need to do is find something to do pullups on. Its much easier for me to consistently work out at home than a gym. I'm 6'4 about 200lbs.

the p90 x is a great video guide my buddy lost ten pounds in 2 weeks and lost 2 pants sizes he is still currently doin it and still dropping down, i wouldnt pay for it but i would accept it for free. its not hard to run, pushups, situps, pullups and lunges and all the other exersizes you know how to do and they are free. hope the system works for you and i will check in once in awhile to see the results witch i am sure will be good.

Pay attention to your eating habits and get in some aerobic and mild strength training a few times weekly. I don't see why you need to use a video to get into shape when you've got so much sports experience. You were obviously a very athletically inclined person at one point, I'm sure you remember how to work out. All that video does is give you something to look at while you exercize.

yeah, like i said i live with an elite physical trainer w/ every cert under the sun and played sports my whole life. I definitely know how to work out and what needs to be done to reach my personal fitness goal. I think a few of you are missing the point though. I in no way NEED a set of DVDs to get in shape, as i said, it was given to me so i decided to see what this is all about. This is more of an experiment to see if the DVDs actually work simply so i can quell my curiosity. Im sure i could easily go back to my old regimine and probably reach my goals faster than with this DVD set but i want to see what one can get out of a TV bought fitness program with minimal amount of exercise equiqment if they fully invest in the program. Thats why i called this thread The P-90x Experiment and not The P-90x Experience. This is my curiosity mixed with my want to get in better shape. Why not kill two birds with one stone?
