If your worried about heat run 8 inch hoods with a 8 inch fan and have it on a indipendent intake and exhaust. mount the fan after the intake befor your hoods

some growers push air through the lights to cool them others push air through one fan and then pull them with another fan on the opposite side

alot of people will say its over kill for only two hoods. but if your not worried about noise go with the 8 inch

yes if your enclosed grow area is a 4x8 if not you have to run the house ac all the time to keep the rooms ambient temps around 70 so you like will bring it up to around 80 unfortunately

I've got a lumatek HPS 1000 sitting in the magnum xxxL hood, soon to be side by side with a 1000 watt MH. For now I have CO2 on regularly during the time the light is on, and constantly have An eight inch home depot duct fan pulling through the hood outside the room to cool, while an identical 8 inch pushes from the bottoms of my room. Both are capable of pushing 500 cfm and keep the bulb so cool the buds can just about thouch the glass. The fans cost me 30$ a piece. Keeps it just right. just an idea. good luck

word. i'm not looking forward to having to buy an A/C. No choice with the hot summer sun though. As of right now its cold as fuck outside and just right in my garage

I use one of these for my large 8" 1000w hood. -- http://shop.houseofhydroponics.com/ActiveAir-8-inch-In-Line-Booster-Fan-1100007.htm -- It is cheap, not super loud, and works great. The fan was off, I checked internal temp. right next to the lamp, pretty hot. I turned the fan on, checked the temp. one minute later, and it had fallen over 55F in 60 seconds (145F to 90F). Mind you, I only have one of my 1000's hooked up to this fan, but still. I also have mine in a PULL configuration, not a PUSH. You just need air movement through there, not an uber high-speed cooling. Also, if you're intaking from outside, the sound of the fan can travel down the ducting, possibly exiting where the air comes in. Make sure thats not a concern for you. If it is, put the fan AFTER the hood in a PULL configuration and it will help minimize noise. You could get two of these cheaper fans or probably even use just one and a T-duct between the hoods. Worst-case, try it with one, if it doesn't work, you can always get a second one and just change the ducting around a bit.
I know someone mentioned a fan from Home Depot. At the Home Depot near me, they did not have 8" fans OR ducting. Largest they carried was 7". Something to keep in mind. Cheers mate!
