Poll: Polinated buds = higher THC content? Vote now!

There's been rumors over the years that pollinated (seedy) buds will always have higher THC content than it's Sensimilla (unpollenated) counterpart. (This is after both have had seeds and stems removed.) What do you think has the higher content?

I'm no expert, but I thought it was the opposite and that was one of the main reasons for chopping males. Doesn't the plant stop bud/THC production once it starts making seeds?

I would just like to make a comment regarding pollenated crops

There is no evidence whatsoever to indicate that seeded cannabis is actually less potent/lower QUALITY than sensimilla.

In fact all my experience points in the other direction. showing that it is just as good.

The only real advantage is if you are going to pass that product on or not.

when you pay for your cannabis then you really dont want to be buying seeds and stems instead of smokeable product.

So its actually a 'commercial' standard rather than any real advantage as far as smoke go's.

In fact some of the best weed I've ever smoked was seeded and full of stem and leaf. the sort of stuff that will rock even the most veteran of tokers. so ...

Just my humble opinion..

pollinated weed is just hash potent has unpollinated weed..... the reason behind all this logic is from people getting seedy brick weed, that all the trichomes have been ruptured and left to oxidize.... then they grow those beans out seedless and cured and dryed right to there full potential and there like hmm this weed is much better.... so they attribute seeds to take away potancey.. when in reality it has much more to do with the drying, cureing, storing, and transportation/smuggeling of it

Yeah it's weird people get all bent up about seeds because they weigh a bunch but if the stuff is good then I'd say score!

All the old deadheads I've known over the years have always sworn that pollinated buds were the tip-top in potency because, "that's how mother nature intended them" type quotes.

I'll have to research this when I get a chance. =)

I'm at the end of my first grow and its full of seeds. The lil sample I tried was really good so I Did some research and here's what makes sense to me from all I've read.. Resin production is the plants defense to protect the seed and resin production doesn't increase or decrease when a calyx is pollinanted. The calyx will swell to the same size wheather it has a seed in it or not, If it doesn't have a seed it will fill with resin. What does happen is once a plant is pollinated it transfers its energy into making seed and the buds dont grow as big as they would if they weren't pollinated, so you loose mass but the resin production remains the same. ~MAkes Sense to me, Peace!

my last grow i pollinated one branch on 4 of my ladies. i swear each one that i pollinated had a better coat of resin. i showed it to 2 of my friends and they agreed. im going to be throwing some Qleaner pollen on a Querkle plant tomorrow so ill take pictures along the way and post em here to compare.

it makes sense to me, i mean the plant would want to protect the seeds more so it would shoot out more resin. but not all things that make sense are true..

once i bought a half ounce and there was almost 9 grams of seeds, i was pissed. i can see why people get bent up about seeds. but as long as they arent loaded with seeds im like you, if its good weed im all for the seeds.

every year i pollinate a branch on my monster plants. i have to tie a ribbon to the branch i pollinate it so at the end of the year i will know which one it is.

i marked all mine too, but could easily tell the difference.

The seeded branches are good for smoking and will get you plenty high.

They just aren't as nice to smoke as they seem to be a bit harsher and lacking in flavor.

OK maybe fill w/resin wasn't the best way to put it, they swell. What makes them swell? I didn't mean to say a plant has 'limited energy'. What I meant is a plant goes through natural cycles of its life and depending on what cycle its in it will use its energy for that purpose. Here's what Wiki has to say, good read...

How about grow related links to a grow related site?

This article is in response to an article in the 2000 journal of forensic sciences... I am looking for the link. The basis of the finding is on the way indoor growers are manipulating sensemilla plants.

this is much argued, see many opinions
one recent experience caught my eye, growers experience with hashberry
grew same clone in seeded and unseeded runs, he liked the seeded buds much better
didn't so much say they were stronger, but was the better smoke for him
i would not be surprised that some different cannabinoid ratios show up for seeded/unseeded bud
and may well vary, some strains may do better seeded than unseeded, and vice versa
