I don't like the word 'owe' in this context, but I follow your meaning.
From where I sit, the poor should take advantage of opportunities offered to each and every American regardless of station.
And seek to better themselves with the ultimate goal of being productive members of society.
And stop doing the same shit that is keeping them poor.
But all that is counter-intuitive to the government/entitlement complex. It needs poor people. Which is why we still have the poor forty-five years after LBJ's War on Poverty.
Progressives depend on the poor, therefore they will always be with us.
I guess the real question is: Where do you sit? The poor do not have the same opportunities as the Middle and upper classes. Do you even wonder how a homeless person thinks, or feels. From all your posts in the three years I've had the displeasure of reading, I know you don't have any compassion for others. Just a full throttle let me get mine and fuck everyone else. The poor will always be with us, it is how we treat the problem that defines us as human beings. How could the poor owe anything, they don't have anything. I guess if they were given something, like a chance to better themselves with the proper support structure, they could owe thanks. Maybe that should be the question: How do we get the poor to owe thanks?
