yes you can, and will see significant results. the light should be far enough from the canopy that placing your hand under it at canopy level, can be left there for any length of time with out discomfort.

sheeeit bro use both of those lights, unless you need the t5 for upcoming veg plants. I've seen decent results with 150 hps before, nice fat nugs and such, bend the plant down or tie it down so most of the plant is at the same light level, you can get that 150 hps a foot away, or closer depending on the reflector, and put the t5 1-4 inches away.

I use a 150 hps for veg and flower with 2x400 hps now...
i really dont care if you believe me. i am not trying to show off i was just posting so the op could gain from my experience. i have nothing to prove to a stranger over the internet. also i dont post pics because i am super paranoid and i dont live in a legal state.
