To me this was a combo of the canuck having an attitute and the border crossing officer having power/control issues, dude in the car should have keept his cool from the start, hell when i cross and they ask stupid questions i humor them (they are doing their job, well some) and answer the questions as briefly as possible, sometimes less is more.

Yea I think he wanted to start shit. On another note its prob not a bad idea to record yourself crossing the border if some shit went down. Most phones should have a memo recorder. What a fucking nightmare.

I agree with every word you just wrote, i dont' apoligize or defend a Canadian if he acts like a dick, but next time i go over to shop ( if i do) i will have a detailed map and schedule planned , cover my ass. What made me laugh was when the officer said they catch 3 terrorist a day, who the flannel taliban?

yeah might actually be a good idea. A border patrol lady was raising her voice at my father and I cause she was afraid we were going to bring unstickered fruit into her country.

People are allowed to be rude. It happens all the time. Using your authority to intimidate an individual strictly because you don't like his attitude is bullying and abuse of that authority.

exactly, It's probably a requirement and they probably file bullshit reports, and then say things like '3 terrorist a day' and use those reports to show citizens their tax dollars at work. and it's saving their country!

ordinarily i would agree with this wholeheartedly. but when you're crossing an international border the principle of it is (almost) besides the point. i mouth off to cops frequently, but i would never doing when crossing the border, especially into a country that has gotten a little hair-triggerish with "invaders". that driver was a douchebag. lucky for him he was headed to the right place. i'm sure he feels right at home in the states with the rest of us douchebags. i'd bet an oz the guy was originally from conneticut...
