At first I used distilled water. But now it is rain water. I simply mix my nutrients in with the rain water and every 3 or 4 days I water. When I say just the rain water it means that exactly. No nutrients just plain rain water. The ph is 5.8
so once you add the nutes to the rain water the pH goes up right...? I thought I had read that the rain water causes nute lockout due to low pH?

I must have missed it, what kind of CO2 setup are you using? Might need to put a homemade system in myself. Seem to be running in the low 80's daily now.
I am just doing a homemade system too. Just yeast + sugar + water= c02 ha ha. Have them in water bottles and have hoses running up to the lights.

It goes up but not that much. It is usally around 6.0-6.5 ph. And if rain water caused nute lockout then I don't think bud would have ever survived in our environment. I mean what other water is she gonna get? Fresh stream water ? lol

I didn't mean the rain water would cause nute lockout, I meant a pH of 5.8 would lockout some nutes from what I understand. Does your plant get droopy when you do just the straight rain water?

have you noticed increased growth with co2? Do you have that going constantly?
Well I haven't gave her just rainwater since her veg state. But she didn't droop at all. Only when she needed water. I have noticed alot of growth but I can't justify if it's the c02 that has caused that. The reason being is because this is my first grow. I just read that c02 can help the bud not stress out in warmer temperatures. Since it has reached 84 degrees in my cab before I figured it couldn't hurt to add a little bit of c02. I will take some pics tonight and will post some if you need a visual. For my first grow I couldn't of wished any better. It is getting so frosty

I had always read the DIY CO2 systems were negligible, but who knows? I didn't try it, but if you feel like its working, that's what counts, eh? Mine are on about week 2 of flowering, can't wait to see some crystals.

I don't think its negligible at all. I just wouldn't know because I have nothing to compare to. I mean this is my first grow. But for CFLs and a bag seed...my buds on my plant are even fuller then my homie with his 250w hps. He has no c02 though. So maybe it does work wonders but as of now, I will always be using c02.

Well hell, I might rig up a system now. My problem would be the size of my room though. It wouldn't produce enough to fill the room. Will try it for sure though when I build a cabinet.

What is the size of your room? my exhaust fans turn off twice a day so the c02 could build up in my cab. I hope it works out for you. Any help feel free to ask or even PM me.

fierce looking cfl buds man! and a first timer to boot! killin it bro!

It should be ok. I say ya gotta a 50/50 shot at it pulling through. I have seen worse. But just keep an eye on it. Light security is a huge deal. Luckily, MJ is very forgiving, for the most part. Take alot to kille em.

My room is like 6' x 8', so it would take a lot of CO2.
If you have the money to get a small tank +regulator I'd invest in that. I've read off hightimes and many people here on this site that c02 has an increase in yield and potency of up to 30%. With those numbers I figure WHY NOT! lol But with that big of a room do you have full insulation? If so you really don't need that much c02. I would say like 4 2 liter bottles would be plenty.

I would love to man, but $$$ effect my every move. Gotta stay low budget for now. My idea right now is to come up with a budget and set aside "x" amount of $ each week for grow-related tools/parts/etc. And for now, my first goal is to build a grow dresser. So that is going to eat up my monies for the next little while. When I say "x", I mean like 50-100$, so it's gonna be a bit.

That said, I LIKE the way you think! ;)

looking nice bird... Have you read anything in regards to how many grows CFLs are good for? I'm having trouble finding info on that.

I've read somewhere that someone says change them every grow I believe. Not sure where I read it though, maybe in the SMB book? I'm going to use mine for at least 2, if not 3, and see what happens.
