As I mentioned I am not currently doing this, but I would like to experiment with different strains in the somewhat near future as far as time required to grow a plant! I don't know about you all but I get tired of a certain strain after a bit. As for picking up another patient, I don't have enough experience to do this. There is no way I could promise anything to them.
How long have you been growing? Sounds like you have integrity, which is great to hear!
That makes things much easier. If it wasn't for all the rain I'd consider a move.
I've been growing plants in general for years, outside anyways. I'm new to growing medical marijuana though. I've only ever grown 1 plant from bagseed. For my first grow I yielded 16.9grams. It was good smoke too, I have no doubt I will get WAY more this time around. I would just feel terrible if someone was trusting me to provide them with medicine, and I was unable to because of mistakes. I would feel obligated to provide them with medicine before myself, so I will just avoid that situation for now. Not ready for it. In the future though if the right conditions are met, I would be proud to provide medicine to those who are not able to provide for themselves. My fiancee is showing some interest in getting a medical card soon though, so that may up my limit to 12 mature.
You are correct. Many growers do the banzai method. Others just take the clone directly off of a "vegetative" plant before moving it into "flowering". This can eliminate the need for the "mother" giving an extra number to the flowering stage.
So I was just thinking how do people keep mothers while growing 6 plants in flower? I found many threads about bonzai plants. So is that how its done? From my understanding a plant smaller than a cubic foot and not flowering is considered immature?
Correct me if I am wrong, but when doing that, don't you loose some potency with each new generation being weaker than it's parent?
I think the bonzai thing does not really work that well for mothers, but that is just my opinion.
Glad thats just your opinion
I keep all my mothers under the 12'' rule and always have 15-30 clones ready to take off of each one. Bonsai ftw
If you would have read more, you would have seen we were envisioning different things........and we worked it out as the thread went on.....
Please post some pics of your mothers, or a video tutorial, so that all of us here in the Oregon section can learn from your techniques......if it works, I would try it. Just seems a little hard to get a good amount of good sized clones off something that is under a foot tall and a foot wide. I am always willing to learn if something is proven to work.
My mother is a monster, and I wish I would have known better how to maintain her when I first started keeping a mother......but I did not, and she is a great mom, so, damn it, I have a tree in my house! LOL.
I have decided to at least try this with a clone of the purple urkle, and a clone from which ever smoke I like better of the three SGS I have. I'll post in here every once in a while with some pics of the maintenance, and when I do eventually take some cuttings. Hazo you got me thinking though, about the issue with having to take small clones. I think it would be possible to trim back roots, and then let it grow out a bit before taking the cuttings.
Glad thats just your opinion
