The right is attacking democracy and i fear for my country

Democracy? The minute "we" become a democracy, we're fucked. We were founded as a "Representative Republic" bound by the "Rule of Law". Would you like to know why we'd be fucked if we were a democracy? It's happening now actually.

i count that as something for which "we the people" must petition the government for a redress of grievances.

note: i used to work in an office, and the guy who sat next to me and i were in a little nook on the way to the bathroom. we would often take bets on how many people in the office knew stuff like the national anthem (about half) or the pledge of allegiance (about half as well).

one day we surveyed people walking to the bathroom and asked them to name what rights were guaranteed by the first amendment. no one (about 35 people total) could name all 4 (religion, speech, assembly, and the petition for a redress of grievances. arguably, religion can count as 2, for 5 total).

i believe in freedom of religion, while adamantly disagreeing with fundamentalism of any sort.
