Help with nutes

Hi everyone I'm about to do my first grow and been doing alot of research on the site about setup, germination, etc...But the only thing that I don't fully get is nutrients. I'm going to be starting a soil grow but how do I know when to start feeding it nutes, how often, or even how much..also if there are any you recommend it will be very appreciated.

I found a grow journal Marijuana Buds For Less by SeeMoreBuds and he doesn't use any nutrients and still manages to get 3oz of one plant, is this possible?

You can grow without nutes, I never have...but you can. It all depends on what nutes you get for when you should start them. Most nutes start after the first week of the seedling popping out of the ground. I use Dyna-gro. They have a schedule for how much nutes depending on the week, but most nutes will have a schedule also. Just dont get any heavy nuted soils, they will end up just killing your seedlings.

3 Oz off one plant really isnt alot...its a goo yield but could be higher. yield mostly depends on how big you can allow the plant to get but nutrients will help as well.

first off you need to learn how to read the fertilizer as far as what is in them

you will see a number that will look something like this ------> 10-10-10 or 10-5-10 this is the NPK (Nitrogen, Phosforus, (K)Potassium) (N,P,K are the elemnts symbol on periodic table)

this number tells you what percent of each element is in the fertilizer.

vegg stage you want N and P and flowering you want P and K

WARNING!!!!!! DO NOT OVER FERT YOUR PLANTS START WITH 1/4 OF THE SUGGESTED DOSAGE ON PACKAGE.

this may sem like a verry small amount to you and you might think "hmm more is better" WELL ITS NOT!!!!

you have to slowly acclimate the plants to the nutrients. start small and verry gradually move up the dosage 1/4 at a time. if your plants seem to be responding to the 1/4 dosage you start with then move it up to 1/2 the recomended dose. if they do well go 3/4 so on and so fourth. i wouldnt go over 1 1/2 the recomended dosage.

your plants wont need any ferts till they have at the verry least 4 sets of leaves (not counting the first set of leaves that the seed pops off of)

hope this helps, alot of people give too much ferts and really does alot of damage to the plant, be smart about it

also, most people do a every other feeding schedule, me personally i like a once a week schedule. i fed my plants nutes every sunday and any other time they got plain jane water. let them dry out good too in between watering this will help the roots grow looking for water (if you keep the soil wet constantly the roots will not need to "Seek" water they will still grow but not as strong and overwatering can cause many other issues.

I don't know what i am talking about but i am sure you could burry some cheep goldfish in your soil and or some other things that will breakdown on a time line when they are needed . I am sure there is some old timers on here that grow completely organic .

im pretty sure SeeMoreBuds only vegged for about a month so the veg nutrients in his medium have been pumped into the plant and its basically flushed out the high nitrogen, and then he probably transplants to a bigger pot for flower with a lot of phosphorus and potassium in his new medium.

nutrients are pretty simple if you want to do it the natural and cheaper way. go to any nursery, hydro store, or plant store and youll see nutrients with 3 numbers(looks like #-#-#), this is known as NPK or nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

for veg, get some good guano/droppings/manure that has a good concentration of nitrogen over phosphorus, maybe a ratio like 3-1-1 or something along those lines. these will be sucked up by roots in up to 2 months, but i like to put more nutrients on the top soil before every water so theres plenty for the whole plant.

theres also another method of making something called organic tea, i think it helps nutrients get to the roots faster, but it might be a little more complex for beginners. take a hand full of soil and drop it in a bucket with a table spoon of blackstrap molasses (or i use organic honey when im low on molasses) and an airstone. this will make the water really aerated and the microbes will reproduce over 2 days. try to keep it in a warm place so the microbes can thrive.

for flower, get some nutrients with a ration of 0-3-3, since nitrogen isn't really needed too much in flower. but some people think they do but theres just enough in their medium as is. and add as much nutrients as you can as flower moves on, get a ppm meter for you water if you using chemical nutrients so you cant get any burns. organic flowering nutes are usually guano and blood meal/bone meal.

id recommend organics, no nute lock, no burns, and they usually lower your pH to around the comfort level(6.2-6.6 imo) when added to your water but some blood meals can raise it. just always check it pH attentively and make it a habit before you go watering your plants.

It all depends on the soil youre going to use. If you use a sterile (no nutes) Pro mix, then you have to add nutes. If you go with a Roots Organic or a Fox farm ocean they already have nutes in them. You can use these soils all the way thru but you have to be sure they have enough soil to feed the plants all the way thru. A rule of thumb is on an average 16" plant in veg going to flower, the soil will have enough nutes for about a week per gallon of soil you planted into. So a 5 gal pot will last you about 5 weeks or so. With seedlings or clones I use 50/ 50 pro mix and roots organic until theyre about 3 weeks, then 100% roots organic. I use 5 gal pots so as the plants go thru flowering i add AN Iguana Juice bloom. Had great results thus far. Dont over water. When you first pot it, water all the way thru, feel the weight, then wait until the plant is about 70/80% liter. Good luck and good growing

I exclusively smoke bud grown in butchered goldfish. You can lie to yourself, but there really is no substitute. For free nutes, get really good at ring toss, and other carnival games, and you can win all the goldfish you need.

In all seriousness, nutes can be as tricky or as simple as you want them to be. Start off with a simple 2 or 3 part nutes regimen thats designed for marijuana, people get fine results from them all the time.
You can do your homework, and I really recommend doing so, but it takes experience to know what your plant needs. If I may, say you are expecting your first child, no amount of literature, research, advice, or online charts and diagrams, are going to put you on the level of somebody thats on their 3rd or 4th kid, even then you are still guarenteed some suprises.
Now get in there and change some diapers bitch.

i go fishing in summer and throw the perch in the dirt, seemed to work well last year going to try and do some earlier in the season to let it breakdown a bit better by the time i put my plants in thier final containers.

playing carnival games to get goldfish is definatly not the cheap route.

i say buy a 12 pak of crawlers and grab a fishing pole and go catch some shit fish in your local pond/lake. usually with a small hook and a small piece of worm you can catch fish non stop right of a public boat launch. make sure you have a fishing licence (if required) cuz the fines are a bitch. but IMO i say grab a few cold brews and head on down to the local fishing hole, catch a few junk fish and bury them in your soil.

make sure you bury deep enough that the wild animals wont smell it.
