a joint with a filter or roach ?

would there be any difference in using a filter instead of a rock ? i was thinking about this last night, all the filter does is catch all the bad tar shit but the weed "fumes" / smoke would still pass through and get you stoned ?
 
Yes you can get stoned using a cigarette filter... I find it takes a little away from the effect you would get with a roach... but again on the flipside if if the weed you're smoking is decent strength but the smoke is too harsh a filter can save the back of your throat and lungs from rebelling against you...
 
the first person to put a filter of any type on a joint shoulda been dragged outta the house and beatn publicly. what the hell is wrong with people, who taught you to do that?
 
haha my Mom always stressed the fact that I'm smoking without a filter. I found that hilarious. Only filter you should use is a piece of cardboard thats small, like the zig zag paper box. If you work retail some times you get lucky and find cardboard suitable for roaches too. A cig filter will filter out more THC than tar.
 
Using a filter doesn't take much away from the smoke and if you've got some harsh smoke then using a filter makes it easier on your throat and lungs...

I don't know if anyone that is saying not to do it has ever done it... if you haven't then how would you know what the heck you're talking about...

Yes it does take away some potency and yes it makes it smoother to smoke...
 
I use a pc. of the rolling papar package and roll it into a tube....Thought that was pretty much standard practice when rolling a j....Never tried the actual ciggy filter but I'm intrigued.
 
I'v been in circles where thats what was passed around, so im familiar with the concept, just personally feel it is wrong.

just throwing out a lil sarcastic jest, nobody's got to go and get all bent out of shape over it. Not like I really give a rats ass how anybody smokes the herb, as long as they are....
 
I didnt think it would make a big difference but i have a cigarette maker and had a bunch of bud after harvest and made about 75 of them(around 2 bowls each) and i swear with the ones i tried to just leave the filter in it took at least twice as much smoking to get the same effect if i pulled it out and ripped it up a bit and only put a few very small peices kind of fluffed out back in to stop weed from sucking through.

Thanks man thats the answer i was looking for... and guys dont kick off :P i ALWAYS use a roach but i was layed in bed last night just woundering why ive never heard of anyone or saw anyone use a cig filter. That would explain it... :P
 
I use the front tip of a cigarette, maybe a 1/4 inch or so, with the cut side to me and the broken side inside the joint.
 
When I opened this thread I had no idea that actual cotton cigarette filters were going to be the topic of discussion. Don't do that.

I will do the cardboard filter if I am going to a party or know I am going to be smoking with a group of people, because it looks cool, and prevents people from manhandling the end of the joint. When Im be myself I prefer to use my roach clip, because I am usually playing video games and can set it down quickly and not drop it completely in the ashtray.
 
people please stop cutting up random objects to stuff in your joints. they make products specifically for this.

i have the raw ones and a couple glass ones. fancy schmancy. again, please stop cutting up your paper packs. (there's not even enough cardboard for chrissake) using a tip is supposed to make the experience LESS ghetto.

Always cut a part of the rolling paper box and make a filter when I do roll.. it doesn't filter the smoke as much as keeping the burning ashes from torching my throat.
 
I would think besides filtering out some THC, you would waste more weed because you'd have to suck harder to get a good hit

so when you have 40 leaves to a pack you are able to make 40 tips? or do you start cutting up household objects?
 
total head quit being a weed douche...
just grab some regular business cards, those are perfect... cut into little strips and rolled into a spiral.... its not meant to "filter" thc or tar... its meant to keep the end of the joint open and prevent weed from going in your mouth

it's not the same. i've improvised, but it's just not the same and for some reason there are never scissors when i need them so i'd have to fold and lick and it just would be a whole ordeal...i really like my glass one but it gets real dirty and i have to clean it with alcohol, again an ordeal...the ones on a pad are perfect. i paid 10 bucks for a case of them to last me a year, along with my case of papers. and if you really want to be a miser get the perforated ones with the ends that tear off. it's like having two in one and they'll last forever. i just can't be bothered with all this improvisation hocus pocus. i just want to reach over to my supplies and do the damn thing, ya know? i don't want to "run out" of papers and i don't want to work to roll a joint. i wasn't trying to be a douche, it just seems like such a bother to be cutting shit up all the time. do you realize how many joints i smoke?

edit: this pic represents less than 3 weeks worth of roaches, and it's not even all the joints i smoked. no way am i fucking with cardboard and scissors.
