Firstly, if you recall I said 'appropriate fluoro' system, by 'appropriate fluoro' system I DONT mean 8 42w cfls bought from wallmart! Why do you always want to compare your beloved HID's to some old ropey cfl's you bought in wallmart? Why do you never want to compare like with like?

Secondly, why are you people always so damned obsessed with QUANTITY? I talked about QUALITY and you automatically switched back to QUANTITY as soon as you could leap to the HPS's defence. I couldn't really give two hoots about about yield and quantity - I homegrow because I know I can get the very best quality going, and that's why I grow organically and use organic nutrients, if I want a big yield I'll grow twice as many plants. Now I fully realise that not everyone thinks the same way as I do and for many people yield is of paramount importance, but that's not to say that just because you get a big yield with HPS you also get a better quality - because you do not I'm afraid.

Also that quote I gave you demonstrated that whilst yield was marginally down on the HPS systems, quality was far better.
 
Ok here is some more pics for you. These pics are from a grower that has hella experience. The fisrt pic is a cab that has 350w of cfl. it produces anywhere from 4oz to a qp. the second pic is the same guy but in a 2ftX3.5ft using a 400hps. He yeilded 12oz last time and he said this grow was even better...expecting 14oz in the pic shown...

Fluorescents come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. There are compacts, twist bulbs and circle bulbs. They all work the same way. They have a starter and ballast which help provide a steady and regulated amount of electricity to the light. Before HID lights were available indoor growers used fluorescent lights. While fluorescents can be used for an entire grow from seedling to harvest, it is generally not advised to use them in this way. To grow effectively with fluorescent's, think small. These lights are better suited for starting seedlings, rooting clones and small plants, maintaining moms for cloning purposes, and providing sidelight for the undergrowth. These situations do not require a high intensity of light to run their course. The light emitted by fluorescents is gentler and more diffuse, it doesn't release a lot of heat, and doesn't make the plant work as hard. For this reason they can be kept closer to the plant. One or two inches is sufficient, but this also means that the lights must be adjusted almost daily to accommodate growth which can be troublesome.

HPS lights are the best light available today for growing marijuana(The flowering phase). High pressure sodium lights are very bright and very efficient. HPS comes in a wide variety of wattages from 70 watts up to 1,000 watts. With enough of these kind of lights you too can grow those centerfold buds. Even BabyGro will back this up!

Not everyone's looking for 'ultimate perfection' and I keep saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.

Doesn't seem to sink in though!
 
you will never get more bud using cfls over HID lighting(in practical situations) ....everything else is just being biased on CFLs....

what we need is a "sticky" that gives out valid information on which lights are suitable for which stage and which situation.

I think over the last week we have seen far too many arguements over lights, it would be good if there was something that when something like this started again just link it up and the arguement doesnt get started, its getting annoying

Why Not? It costs about the same.. if your going to put in the time and effort why settle for second best?

If it's just a small personal stash.. why not have the best? If you can't handle it just smoke small amounts and it will last you a long time and when you buddies come over you can get them balzed out of their tree. hehe

How much does lower quality weed go for in your area? I don't even buy the low quality stuff anymore but i see it all the time and know its cheaps as dirt.
How much does the high quality shit go for in your area? I know that up in my area the good weed = a very heavy wallet! $$$$$

you might spend a little more on electric but you are getting way way better results. and getting way more light. thats why is more expensive. Plus a lot of cfl grower use 250w of cfls...so why not use a 250w hps??
 
i think it's annoying when people are bitching about little things... ahem nongreenthumb. and i also think it's fucking annoying how people argue naturally, especially on here, not just cause its for sharing and learning, but because it's fucking cannabis, check the signature! \/
no need to argue people...
